His Solution was Laughter!

Last week was my uncle’s birthday and I had no idea what to get him, but knowing I couldn’t come up with something on my own, I gave it to the Lord.

So I waited and then I got a call from my elder cousin who contacted me to ask if I’d meet her in the city to shop for her father’s birthday, which we were celebrating that evening. She’d decided on a card and flowers beforehand, and while we were down the card aisle, I asked the Lord if He thought I should get a card as well and if so, which one?

“Your ears will hear a word behind you, ‘This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left.'” Isaiah 30:21

That’s when I spotted a clip-on red ribboned “bowtie” and directly behind it was a blank card in the same shape. Trusting the Lord’s leading, I just felt I should grab it. My cousin confirmed that she thought her dad would think it was funny and then I suddenly asked her also if she knew of a favorite coffee or chocolate that he enjoyed?

Stopping at the market, I bought his favorite black coffee, chocolates, and shortbread cookies and put it all into a bag. When his two daughters handed their dad his gifts, he was so excited. Then out of nowhere, I reached out and handed him my birthday bag, and it was so the Lord to see the surprised look on his face!

After a wonderful meal filled with love and laughter, my uncle read the sweetest notes from his daughter’s, which brought tears to his eyes and thank you, Lord, God knew what was needed after that was some laughter! My uncle laughed so hard when he saw my card and what I’d written in it β€”I was amazed! Wholeheartedly he expressed how much he loved everything I got him.

I just love giving over situations, especially situations like this one, where I haven’t a clue. Without any effort, He makes sure that everything turns out perfectly β€”proving it could only be the Lord who had done it.

And He has said to me, β€œMy grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

“Your ears will hear a word behind you, ‘This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left.'” Isaiah 30:21
