I Use to be a Shopaholic

I want to praise Him, He is faithful. This past weekend my mom invited me to go shopping on Friday. I declined because I was so tired. Saturday she again invited me to go shopping to purchase something for myself. We went and I couldn’t find anything. While shopping I felt inside me something saying that this isn’t what I want (shopping). This is something that my Beloved has changed in me. Praise the Lord!

Before He became my HH I use to be a shopaholic but since I started my RJ I don’t care about it anymore. I didn’t buy 1 thing. The next day Sunday, I was feeling a little weary from my home situation and then the pressure of being a holiday and everyone around me celebrating expecting gifts. Out of know where my EH sent me a beautiful text saying I was an excellent wife and mother. He also said to please continue on the road that I am traveling and to not allow anyone to get in the way. PTL! Then he asked me if I could give him some scripture about what the Bible says about being materialistic. I looked up the verses and sent him those. I praise Him because I know His word doesn’t come back void. His Word also helped me to get that pressure off my shoulders about shopping and He so kindly showed me that it is a day that this world made up to honor ourselves and exalt ourselves instead of Him.

We are not to be conformed to this world but to renew our minds. It is more important to honor our parents on a daily basis then one day out of the year. I find it so shallow. I find myself not being satisfied with nothing that this world has to offer. I use to love to indulge myself in food and shopping and it’s nothing I want anymore. The only thing that I want is Him, His Word, His peace, His joy that I find in the simplest things ever.

My life looks so crazy right now but His peace carries me each day. I am so grateful that He doesn’t give up on me.

Proverbs 21:17 NLT “Those who love pleasure become poor; those who love wine and luxury will never be rich.”

Romans 12:2 NLT “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
