RESTORED Marriage Testimony: “The Best Day God Allowed to Happen”

How the Journey Began

A year after we married, my husband, Ian, told me he no longer wanted to be with me. Later, he confessed to having an OW (other woman) he met at work. I was devastated; I never thought this would happen to our family.

My initial response was foolish—I called my mother and then ran to my mother-in-law’s to tell her everything. It felt like the worst day of my life, but I later realized it was the best day God allowed to happen because it forced me back to Him. In my desperation, I tried to control the situation by calling Ian’s company to try and separate him from the OW. Praise God, He stopped me from doing even worse things.

Finding the Truth

I searched the internet for answers and first landed on "Standers" websites, but nothing felt right. Then I stumbled upon HopeAtLast.com.

It was only then I realized the truth: I had played a major role in breaking my family. I was a "know-it-all," contentious, and I had stolen Ian's position as the leader of our home. I was the one who had pushed him away.

How God Changed the Situation

The biggest change was the new calmness inside me. Even when I found out the OW had followed Ian to work on the same cruise ship, I felt at peace. God used that isolation to draw me closer to Him and make Him my Heavenly Husband. For eight months, I was alone, but I felt comforted knowing my Beloved would never leave me.

The Turning Point: Letting Go

The "turning point" happened the moment I fully let go of the desire for restoration. I reached a place where I didn't care about the outcome anymore—I simply loved every waking day I spent alone with my Beloved Lord.

How Restoration Happened

After a month of no contact, Ian messaged me saying he was very ill with COVID. A week later, he told me the OW was going home early because she had also become sick. This was a quiet prayer I had whispered to the Lord months earlier, and He answered it in His perfect timing!

The enemy tried to work harder as Ian moved closer to home, but God was working more. I eventually confessed to Ian that I was the one who had called his company. He was angry, and I fasted for three days. On the third day, I heard God say, "It is finished." A week later, Ian broke up with the OW and asked me to pick him up at the airport.
