♕Today's Promise: “'The Lord will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—a wife who married young, only to be rejected,' says your God." Isaiah 54:6
Amia, how did your Restoration Journey actually begin?
It actually started when my husband, Ronan, left home with the other women. When I was heartbroken and away from all my family and friends. In a new city and with many plans that were not going to be carried out anymore.
There I found RMI by the grace of God, they gave me a word of hope from God for my marriage and that is when a journey began hand in hand with the Lord through difficulties and trials that over time brought a fruit of joy, peace and hope.
How did God change your situation, Amia, as you sought Him wholeheartedly?
He started working on me while I didn't know anything about Ronan yet. The Lord wanted to spend time with me to heal the wounds that I had carried since my childhood and when I gave myself into His hands then everything began to change for the better. Ronan began to write, visit us, call us on occasion and offered his financial support. He began to come home more often and not only spend time with my daughter but with me as well.
Every time there were any difficulty I went to God and when I least expected it and needed it most, He changed the situation. Many times I was surprised at how good the Lord is.
What principles, from God's Word (or through our resources), did the Lord teach you during this trial, Amia?
Your Heavenly Husband must reign on the throne of your heart. Stop looking at your earthly husband and start looking to the Lord as your Heavenly Husband. Do not seek advice from men but approach God the admirable counselor in prayer. Read the word to find promises that God has for you and your family. Wait for His time. Renew your mind through the word of God and when the enemy attacks you believe in the Word so as not to hear the lies of the enemy. The battle will be won in the mind. This is a spiritual fight and it is not won with human efforts but with the strength of the Holy Spirit. Let God mold you before you expect him to mold your earthly husband.
What were the most difficult times that God helped you through, Amia?
When Ronan left home for the second time with the other woman and left us renting in a new city where we didn't know anyone. When Ronan posted on his social media about his relationship with the other woman. It was a huge internal struggle with shame and pain.
When we did not have much food at home, believing that God is my provider was also a struggle for me. I had to forgive again and again until I received complete healing from His hands. Seeing my daughter suffer from the separation and her seeing a picture of her dad with the other woman was also a very difficult trial for me.
Amia, what was the "turning point” of your restoration?
It really was whether or not to believe in restoration. I wasn't sure if God wanted my marriage and family to be restored so at the beginning of this journey I was very hesitant. It wasn't until I believed with all my heart that God's will was to restore me and my family that this journey was smoother. When I found the Lord as my Heavenly Husband, I no longer needed my marriage restoration but I received it as a bonus.
Tell us HOW it happened, Amia? Did Ronan just walk in the front door? Amia, did you suspect or could you tell you were close to being restored?
It all started a few months ago when we started to be friends, I didn't ask Ronan for anything and he was taking things to another level. He wasn't very clear about who we were but he did start telling us that he loved being with us and spending time with us.
Then little by little we began to grow closer. He visited more often and stayed over more. One day he asked me if he could come home, however he did not apologize or apologize for what happened.
Yes, I could see that the miracle was near. I believed in God but I definitely just longed for God's presence in those moments so being restored in marriage was no longer my main goal.
I knew it would happen soon because Ronan was suffering financially and in every area of his life he was beginning to have difficulties, which did not make me happy but saddened me as I prayed more for his salvation than for restoration.
Would you recommend any of our resources in particular that helped you, Amia?
"For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7
"'The Lord will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—a wife who married young, only to be rejected,' says your God." Isaiah 54:6
"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Matthew 5:44
Would you be interested in helping encourage other women, Amia?
Either way, Amia, what kind of encouragement would you like to leave women with, in conclusion?
Don't give up, God has a purpose for you, God loves you and doesn't want you to suffer anymore, that's why He wants your heart to be in His hands, so that no one can ever harm you.
When you leave yourself in the hands of God, HE takes your wounds and heals them with love, prepares you and then gives back to your earthly husband. Then He will show him the love that He has shown you.
God will restore all areas of your marriage and you will see His glory over your house. Be Encouraged!
