A Husband to Take Care of My Needs

โ™• Today's Promise: "I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations" Isaiah: 61:7-11

Today my beloved Heavenly Husband gave me a revelation about being my Heavenly Husband after reading Day 22, Course 2.

What really struck me was, when in the lesson they spoke of people seeing God as Daddy.

But first a bit of background, I grew up in a home where both my parents where struggling with alcoholism and depression at various stages, but when added up, it was basically my whole childhood. Materially we had all we needed, but both my parents were emotionally unavailable.

So I grew up dealing with everything alone. After school I went to study and afterwards found a good job, moved out of the house and looked after myself until I met my former husband at age 34. So I was extremely independent, successful and felt like I could deal with everything on my own. And that attitude I took into my marriage, needless to say, it was a disaster.

But when everything hit 5yrs ago when my former husband's affair first came out, I only prayed for him to change and the other woman to be taken away etc. Fast Forward to now, he divorced me and is still involved with the other woman.

At the beginning of 2019 when my former husband left the house I really started my journey with God (at that point I still called Him God). I first found standing ministries and later this ministry which I am so grateful for.

During times when the hurt was unbearable I used to see myself just sitting and crying on my Father's lap. He went from God to Dad/ Father. As I progressed I started experiencing the Lord as my Husband but the Father still as my Dad. With my Dad I was a little girl seeking a father's comfort, and after I felt better I would walk with the Lord, my Heavenly Husband.

But after reading this lesson, I Seeked God on this. What He showed me is that I needed Him as a Dad for a season since I never knew parental love during my childhood. But I'm a grown woman now and need a Husband to take care of my needs, love me, protect me and provide for me. So He basically wants to "give me away" like a father gives his daughter away on her wedding day. And I am just fine with that, I need to learn to submit to Him as my Husband and go to my Husband with all my needs, hurt, joy etc.

What I can relate to in Yvonneโ€™s Praise Report is that like her, my mother tongue is Afrikaans. We get taught as children to respect adults and you don't go talking to grown ups using "you". You say "U" as she also explained. So even though I started calling God my Husband, Love, Sweetheart etc I would still address Him as "U". So now I must really wrap my mind around being less formal when I speak to my Heavenly Husband.

Also the church I grew up in, you had to be very respectful when you talked about God, it almost felt like you had to whisper His name. Anything could be seen as blasphemy. So to change that mindset is quite difficult but I'm getting there. It's like when you speak to your earthly husband, it will be informal but still respectful.

Dear Bride, it might feel uncomfortable at first to think as God as your Husband and call Him anything but God. But He is your Husband now.

โ€œFor your Husband is your Maker, Whose name is the Lord of hosts; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of all the earth. For the Lord has called you, Like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even like a wife of oneโ€™s youth when she is rejected,' Says your God" Isaiah 54:4-6

You need Him to be just that, a Husband that provides for you, loves you, treasures you and protects you. You are NOT a single mom that have to take care of your kids since He is a Father to the fatherless and they don't have to grew up feeling abandoned.

Yes He is God, He is a Father, and a Saviour. But He wants to be your perfect Husband as well.

"I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations" Isaiah: 61:7-11
