Reflecting the Lord That Lives in You

♕ Today's Promise: "After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you." John 13:12-15

Father’s Day weekend the Lord allowed & provided for my family to be able to take my dad to see his sister’s in another city.

The Lord showed me many important lessons during and after the trip. My Dad, my sister, my brother in law and my dad's brother all traveled together in one vehicle. This is where the first lesson came in. My dad's brother, who is my uncle, is a very argumentative, complaining, bitter man. I have known him to be this way all my life. He is always putting my dad down and talking negatively about him, it seems as though my dad can never do anything right in his eyes, and as his daughter it is hard to see that happening and just stay quiet.

I had to talk to my HH (Heavenly Husband), about the way I was feeling hurt & upset that my dad was being treated this way after my dad had invited him on this trip with us. My dad has at times reacted when he feels the pain of the negativity towards him, but he is learning now that his relationship with the Lord is growing and lately my dad has learned to just love him anyways. That is what I have learned to do also and my HH gave me a chance to practice it. When we ask the Lord to change us in different areas, He will allow us to be in certain situations to practice what we are learning. Every time I felt like I was getting upset, I would have to just give it to the Lord and show love and compassion instead and the Lord helped me let it go every time.

The second lesson I learned that weekend was to serve everyone just like the example Jesus gave us in John chapter 13, when He washed the disciples feet. One of my aunts has dementia and it seems that she is in a different world and does not know what is going on. I watched as her sister, my other aunt, was always there catering to her, giving her attention, putting lipstick and blush on her and just showing nothing but love even though she knew my aunt with dementia did not even comprehend anything that was going on, she wasn’t expecting anything in return.

The third lesson came at the end of my trip. We drove back home on Sunday afternoon and we made it into town by the early evening. We dropped off my dad and my uncle, each at their homes and as we were driving home, we witnessed a fatal car accident that happened right in front of us. As my sister, my brother in law and myself got down in a panic because we had just seen something horrific, we were the first ones on the scene & saw the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident, lying lifeless on the floor. Something I would never like to witness again. As we were standing next to him asking the 911 operator what to do, my reaction was to pray and just ask God to please help him live if it was His will but I later found out that he did not survive.

In that moment I really felt in my spirit that nothing matters more than loving others unconditionally and knowing and living with the Lord daily, loving the unlovable, serving others without expecting anything in return and forgiving everyone. Nothing else matters, when we leave this world we take nothing and no one with us, but if we follow our Lord and develop a relationship with our HH (Heavenly Husband), He promises that we still have HIM and we will be in His loving arms when we are called home.

"Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will." 2 Timothy 2:23-26

Love the unlovable, showing unconditional love, reflecting the Lord that lives in you.

"After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you." John 13:12-15

The Lord expects us to follow His example and serve others willingly.

"Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him..." Philippians 3:8-9

Everything we do in life should be because we want to honor and glorify Him, we find out that He's all the matters.
