I Choose Better Over Bitter

"See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many." H12:15

After reading this part in Living Lesson 77 " Bitter or Better":

Two people can go through the same thing or face the same situation, a very unfortunate situation, and often something that is terribly unfair. Yet one will come out of the experience bitter, while the other one will become better, a better person.

It reminded me of our Wise Women Retreat in 2023 where my Darling showed me that I had become bitter because of unforgiveness and believe me it was a heavy load to carry. Yes I went through unfortunate situations but He didn't want me to be bitter. So I was sitting with Him in front of the Cape Town water where I asked Him to please help me forgive. I will never forget that day, because the moment I asked Him to help me forgive, it felt as if the whole load fell off my back and I was free.

And no I am not going to tell you that unforgiveness doesn't sneak in once a while. Again proof that apart from Him I can do nothing. So when it happens I have to ask Him again to help me, because He is the Only One that can make the bitter better.

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." J15:5

So precious woman I want to encourage you to ask our Darling Lord to help you forgive, so that you don't carry any bitterness like I did. Remember He wants to make all the bitterness better.

  1. Yes Janine bitterness is such a horrible feeling and the only thing that helped me that He guided me to do was to find every scripture on forgiveness that l could find and read them over and over again. it helped me so much and yes l also had to ask Him to do the work in me because l could not do it myself πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌ but He did it and it was so freeing πŸ˜ƒ

    1. Thank you for sharing precious Atarah, yes it is for sure such a horrible feeling and I agree I too could not do it without Him doing it and walked for so long with the bitterness because I tried on my own, just proof apart from Him we really can do nothing.

  2. Janine, I struggled with bitterness and unforgiveness as well. When my journey started, I did not want to become the bitter ex-wife, but I did not know how to get rid of these feelings. But PTL my Beloved led me to RMI and through the courses I learned that if I cannot forgive, I can ask my Beloved to help me to forgive and to do it through me. After that He took me on a journey to forgive everybody in my life, from childhood and the freedom that came from forgiving is amazing. Unforgiveness was a burden I carried for so long, and it kept me in a prison of pain and bitterness. And my Beloved Lord did it, He gave me the strength to go on the healing and forgiveness journey, and I will never look back, it was so worth it.

This lesson helped me so much on my journey to get better and not bitter: https://hopeatlast.com/c3/day-8-chapter-3-a-gentle-and-quiet-spirit/

    1. Thank you for sharing precious Adina. I also learned through RMI that when I struggle with something, like the unforgiveness I can ask my Darling Lord to help with it and He is right there waiting to help us. For so long I tried to do it on my own and it is really so freeing to be able to go to Him with anything.

  3. Que Thank you Janine β™₯️ our feelings are deceitful and the enemy wants to steal our victories. There is no point to look back and resent what happen, but as you shared to move forward with Our Beloved. He truly heals our heart, the times we need it. I am free from pain because He gave me a new identity, every pain I have endure points my heart to Him, who can truly give me an abundant life❀️

    1. Thank you for sharing precious Isabella, I love what our Darling Lord does and that we have a new identity through Him and I am so very grateful for that, because I was so lost but He didn’t leave me in that lost state.
