In the waiting

"But those who hope in theΒ Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,Β they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31

It seems like we're always waiting for something...

We were at the airport waiting to collect my cousin (he's visiting us in the UK for a few months) and this made me think about how we wait for most things throughout our lives.

We wait for babies to be born, we wait for miracles to happen, we wait for seasons to change, we wait our turn at intersections; you get the picture. And in that moment, it made me ponder on this verse:

"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalms 27:14 NIV

He makes us wait, and today I won't move until I hear His voice. I want Him to lead me, because He knows the plans He has for me, and I wouldn't place my trust in anyone else but Him.

I know the waiting might seems like it takes forever, but I take heart today in knowing that He sees me, He will give me the green light soon. I won't let the waiting break me down, His timing is always perfect. I will just keep my eyes focused on Him.

  1. Thank you Lord for that encouragement. My hope is in you. People may fail me. My flesh will fail me. My husband may fail me. But you will not fail me. Your love and faithfulness will stay the same. It is a anchor for my soul.

  2. I love that lesson, thank you for sharing Elora. I am in His waiting room as well. With not knowing what is happening with our house, I am waiting for Him to let me know what He wants me to do, and although I am tempted to act in the flesh and DO something because living like this without knowing the future is what He wants for me at this moment. I will not say it is easy, because that would be a lie. I have to fight the urge to act every so often and just wait for Him. Thank you for encouraging and reminding me today.

Here’s another layer of waiting to teach young women (and young men when the equivalent chapter in Wise Man Warrior is done) that waiting is their SUPERPOWER. Encouraging young people is not by what we say but how we act.

How can we ask young people to WAIT before being involved in a relationship that will rob them of their future if we are not able to wait gracefully and honestly enjoy the wait?

Convicted I must do better, I am continually asking my Husband and Friend to take me to a higher level of waiting while engaging my grandchildren how to really enjoy it almost to the point of waiting being just as enjoyable as what we are waiting for! With a few it’s working beautifully πŸ’ž

  4. I never liked to wait, I always did everything myself. And my Beloved, He has shown me that I must wait, and sometimes it is difficult, in the flesh, but then, I return to Him, to speak to Him, and I find that waiting is always part of His plan, and when we do it, we see how it works. Our Beloved in the situation. Now I don’t care if the bus leaves me, or if I have to wait somewhere, because I know that He is in control, and that only He knows why I should wait.
Thank you dear Elora, for reminding us how valuable it is to wait.
