Painful words

God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. Psalms 46:5

A while ago I was having trouble with my children's sharp words. My three children are in the process of becoming adults. As everyone knows, this can be a difficult phase for us as mothers.
My eldest daughter has been critical of me for a few days. Her words hurt me. I asked myself if I was doing a good job as a mother

I really want to be the perfect mother for my children. As a result, I became quieter to avoid comments and tried to please my daughter by adjusting myself. My goal was that I wanted her to act normal towards me again and to think I was a nice mother.
But my solution didn't work at all because I felt worse and worse. I was trying to change her heart myself and because of that.
Because I felt so bad, I knew I was doing the wrong thing.
I needed to talk to my Beloved Lord and Best Friend, He alone knows how to handle this situation.
You know, nothing is better than pouring your heart out to Him. He listens to us, we can tell Him everything, our pain, our powerlessness, we can let go of our tears when we are with Him. He comforts us with His words and encouragement.

Dear women He is so good!!
He led me to an Afrikaans blog that really encouraged me. In it was written:
'Dear woman, let yourself be infused with the healing love of our beloved Lord, who can heal all those vile words spoken about you. Don't believe what others say about you, believe what the Lord says about you. What our beloved Lord says and thinks about us matters, so focus your thoughts on that.' (Chapter 13 β€œThose Voices” – LoveAtLast.org)

She shared the following Bible verse that taught me to always remember His love.

β€œThe Lord your God is with you, He the warrior who saves. He is full of joy over you, He is quietly content in His love. He rejoices and rejoices over you. Zephaniah 3:17

I am so grateful that He let me read this blog, this gives me so much peace, I don't have to feel insecure when sharp words are spoken. I can focus my heart on Him and feel His love, and love my children with all my heart. He will teach me the truth whether the words are true or not.

  1. Oh, dear Hanna, I am so glad to hear that He gave you the peace you need. As a mother, I can understand what you are going through. At the beginning of my journey, because the children had a Stepmom, I wanted to be “better” than her. It was a competition about who can be the best mom. Goodness, I had it so wrong, but I am so glad that my best Friend and their Father, led me to find this ministry in time and gave me that peace not to listen to the voices of the people around me telling me all kinds of things and comparing us to each other. What a wonderful reminder this is.

  2. This is so helpful for me. I have a two sons that I felt this way regarding. I’ve come a long way, but it’s so amazing to hear how God is doing such a wonderful work, like He does best in the middle of it!! thank you for sharing ❀️

  3. May we always find solace in His presence and trust that every challenge will ultimately bring forth blessings.

  4. Thank you for sharing precious Hanna, there is really nothing better than pouring our heart out to our Darling Lord. Our Darling Lord is teaching me to really let go of everything and giving it over to Him, because He knows far much better to handle situations. And we can rather believe our Darling Lord’s truths over our lives and I am now reminded of this lesson – “They Don’t Have It – https://loveatlast.org/finding-the-abundant-life/chapter-6-they-dont-have-it/

  5. Dear Hanna, when I faced custody loss, my children said some really hurtful things to me (https://narrowroadpublishinghouse.com/rjn-adina/#I%20needed%20to%20be%20a%20better%20mother). But I gave it to my Beloved and He turned it around. It did not happen overnight, but during the year and a half I was a weekend mom, He showed me that everything that was said was not true. It is comforting to know we can give all these words to Him and ask Him if it is true or not.
