♕ Today's Promise: “Thy testimonies also are my delight; They are my counselors.” Psalm 119:24
Aurora, how did your restoration actually begin?
It's been two months since my husband returned home! I had not yet begun journalling the RMI courses, when he returned, because I had been given the How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage book 3 months prior to his return, and only when he returned did I realize there were FREE online courses. I already had in my heart that there should be no divorce and that I should believe God for my marriage, but I didn't know where to start. Today, while doing one of the C2 (Rebuilding Your Life) lessons, I felt the need to submit my testimony and give God the praise He deserves.
It all started about eight months ago, when I suspected my husband had gone out with an OW. After months of fights, arguments, a lot of crying and distrust (my distrust of my EH, of course), he decided to leave home. He went to a friend's house and said he wasn't with anyone. He never totally left me; he called me every day, showed up at home several times a week, but he said he wouldn't come back, that our marriage wasn't working anymore. In the end, after he moved back home, I found that he was involved with the OW. That motivated me to complete the courses and begin to relate to the Lord as my Heavenly Husband.
How did God change your situation, Aurora, as you sought Him wholeheartedly?
God had touched my heart before being given the RYM book by a friend, so I was already praying and asking Him to bring my husband back. But when I started reading How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage, I was sure I was on the right track. What's more, I could see how much I was responsible for the downfall of my marriage.
So often, I begin to remember the things I did, the situations that happened, and I can't believe how foolish I was. God is changing me every day, and He is shaping me according to His will. I was always a very selfish person; I wanted to be right about everything; sometimes I even let things go, but inside I didn't accept what anyone said. I was extremely bossy, jealous, angry and a completely bitter person. God took it all from me. Glory to God! I became a calmer, quieter and less anxious person—a gentle and quiet woman. I was able to forgive my husband, and what I think is the most important thing: I could see my sins, and in addition to asking forgiveness from God, I also asked forgiveness from my husband, because he was one of the people most harmed by them.
What principles, from God's Word (or through our resources), Aurora, did the Lord teach you during this trial?
I learned that we should love our HH and that He must be in the first place: He must be first in our lives, in every way, for He gives us everything we need according to His will and His abundance.
What were the most difficult times that God helped you through, Aurora?
When I learned that there really was a relationship with my husband and the OW, it was very difficult, but with the Lord's help (especially after He became my HH after reading the Abundant Life courses), I managed not to let it get me down.
Today, even though he is at home and he is no longer involved with the OW—trials continue to come into my life. In some ways, they’re even harder, but He has sustained me at all times. Whenever I need Him, I simply whisper to Him, "My Love, I need Your help," and immediately He lifts me up!
Aurora, what was the “turning point” of your restoration?
I cannot say exactly what the turning point of my restoration was, but when I clung to the Lord and cried to Him, I could tell that everything got easier!
Tell us HOW it happened, Aurora. Did your husband just walk in the front door? Aurora, did you suspect or could you tell you were close to being restored?
The day I heard about his relationship with the OW, he'd called, so I asked him if it was true (I still didn't know the principle of being quiet :)). He told me that he was glad I knew (it was through another person hearing it on social media and telling me), because he was finished, done with her. He said he was already planning to come home, to talk to me about moving home. If I was interested in having this conversation, he would come home the next day. He did come, but his heart was turned away from me again. He said he had changed his mind, that "we" wouldn't work, and I was supposed to give him up, let him go. I agreed with him. I would let him go and give up. (I'd just read to agree with your adversary, and parts of doing it enthusiastically, when I got to the Facing Divorce Again course).
Anyway, twelve days later, he called me before dawn, asking me to pick him up because he wanted to talk. It was early on Saturday, and by Sunday night, he was already home, moved back in. Glory to God!
It has not been an easy battle (God battling for me and my battle in my mind), because the enemy has tried every way to make him leave again, but I have remained steadfast in prayer and agreeing with anything he says, with a big smile, while speaking to my HH for His will to be done.
Would you recommend any of our resources in particular that helped you, Aurora?
I recommend all your materials: books, devotionals, testimonies, and daily encouragement. Sometimes, when I am a little discouraged, and I see a Saturday restored marriage testimony, it reminds me of a lesson and promise I need. I can then remember that for God all things are possible and that I should not be led by my thoughts, but I should focus on God's plans and His promises whenever the enemy is trying to bring me down.
I really appreciate everyone here at RMI. It's because of what you do that women like me are helped! May God continue to bless you all!
Would you be interested in helping encourage other women, Aurora?
Yes for sure!!
Either way, Aurora, what kind of encouragement would you like to leave women with, in conclusion?
Fellow brides, don't give up! With God anything is possible, and He will do wonders in your life. When you are discouraged, read Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the Gentiles and I will be exalted upon the earth," and remember that "God is able to do infinitely more than we ask and we think" (Ephesians 3:20).
This is what we need to do: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Matthew 7: 7), and "Fear not; believe only" (Mark 5:36).
Beloved, may the peace of the Lord be with you all.
