After wandering through some of the content on the Homegrown Ministries website, something so profound spoke to me. Before I share what was spoken to me, I must confess I have gotten worn out explaining to others why I have chosen to homeschool my daughters and stay home with them. It was wearing me out physically and mentally. It was also causing me to forget the whole reason of why I had a change of heart on wanting to be home with my children and to teach them.

Until, I read something that Erin had written about homeschooling. It wrote something like this, the whole purpose of being home and teaching our children is to glorify Him. Our Beloved should be the center of our hearts and homes. As that being the foundation, we should then learn as a family, live as a family, and love as a family. It led me to share this with my family as well by creating a picture of it to hang on the fridge. I am also able to remind myself and my daughters every morning of what truly matters.

This has released my fear and frustration of my reasoning for why I homeschool and stay at home. My Beloved knows my heart and there is no need to fear when I have Him. As soon as I began to truly put Him first in our hearts and day, the academics and behavior began to improve with my daughters during their lessons as well. I am now focusing more on whatโ€™s important, which is teaching them spiritual truths. The academics will always be there, but I want to make sure my beautiful daughters know and love our Beloved for eternity.

  2. My dear Elda
You can’t imagine how important the callย  you are about to fulfill with His help is. It’s a serious challenge not to be focusย  on your relatives` opinions but specifically onย  our own understanding. It has happened to me that I figured out a long list of “good reasons for homeschooling” and lots of them are really good but by the way I get closer to Him it more accurate to see the clear and real purpose: He.
These praises which reveal what new convictions we adquiere of His plans but more important what He is doing by grace are really needed. We need to speak of it. We need to repeat and repeat His promises, the challenges but also His ways to solve the problems, His marvelous support and love through this call.
I really appreciate this post. It’s a reminder. A great and permanent reminder that I need in my personal journey of motherhood and homeschooling.
    A final word for you
    โ€ญIsaiah 30:18 NLTโ€ฌ
[18] So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.

  3. Dear Elda, I also receive a lot of negative comments about our choice to Homeschool the children, most often from family who are all teachers. In these times I just have to keep reminding myself why I am doing this, for His glory and to set my children apart. But it can be exhausting to hear the same things over and over again. But that is when we just have to run to our Beloved and talk to Him and get new strength to continue on this journey.
