What is Love?

1 Corinthians 13:4–8a (ESV)
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
I have been studying Gods truths on Love the past few weeks. The above scripture is one of my absolute favorites. I use this scripture almost daily. It covers a “..multitude of sins”. Feeling impatient?-then Love, feeling unkind? – then Love, feeling rude? – then Love. Do not try and control a situation – instead Love the wait with the Lord.
Anyways, my praise is He teaches me so much and I’m just excited to be on the journey with Him to learn and fully start learning to love everyone no matter how they treat us.

Happy Weekend πŸ™‚

  1. Thank you for sharing and reminding us Hopedarling, about such a beautiful bible verse.
Yes our lovely Heavenly Husband teaches us so much and I am grateful with you that He doesn’t just leave us the way we are, what an awesome journey and fortunate we are to see each one of us grow and be there for each other with Him.

  2. Hope Darling you are so right and I still feel the same way as you do more than 32 years later, β€œI’m just excited to be on the journey with Him to learn and fully start learning to love everyone no matter how they treat us.”
β€œ For if you love [only] those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do that? And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what are you doing out of the ordinary? Don’t even the Gentiles do the same? You, therefore, will be perfect [growing into spiritual maturity both in mind and character, actively integrating godly values into your daily life], as your heavenly Father is perfect.β€œ
My husband just reminded me of this wonderful promise/principle as that goes along with it too. β€œ For what credit is there if, when you are in the wrong and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.”
And the only way for us to accomplish any of this is my allowing his love to flow through us. Loving others with the love that we are given, and to the extent we yearn for that love πŸ’— from ONLY HIM.

  3. Hi Hope Darling, so happy to read your praise about love and how our Husband open our spiritual eyes to the real meaning of love. Unfortunately, most of the time we are following what the world teaches us about love, which is the selfish side of love because it is only according to what we get from others. Going through His Word we realized that Love is a decision and it is unconditional no matter what. He offered it to us when He died in the cross for all our sins. Thinking about this last part of the sentence, I have questioned myself that if He who is the son of the Almighty gave all his love for me (and I am nothing compared to him), how can I be so ungrateful to show no love for others! This is one of the most difficult things I have faced during my journey specially when I have found not lovable people or those who have deeply hurt me. I hold His hand very tight and continue keeping my trust on Him that He will help me to get better and better by His Grace.

  4. What a beautiful praise report! It’s like a poem, a poem about Love, about what Love really is! Thank you for sharing, HopeDarling!

  5. Thank you for sharing this beautiful verse Hope Darling. I just read it this morning and when I opened your praise I read the exact same verse ❀️❀️
