But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” M14:17-31
I quote a passage taken out of Restore Your Relationship, Chapter 3
Fear. A question we must ask ourselves is “why did Peter sink?” “But seeing the wind, he became afraid” (Matt. 14:30). If you look at your situation and at the battle that is raging against you, you will sink, sink into despair and remain in dis-ease! Peter took his eyes off of the Lord and the result was fear, causing him to sink! It says, “he became afraid.” If you take your eyes off of the Lord, you will become fearful.
Thank you Janine for this reminder – I really needed it. When all we see are our circumstances, we need to hold onto His hand and our faith in Him. Many times I have to praise Him while in tears, but I know I am being pushed to step out in faith even more. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4
I also praised our Darling Lord in my tears dear Gioia, but He is the One that is holding us up and He turns all our trials into testimonies. I just love Him!
Janine, I always love to listen to your podcasts. They encourage me so much. 💕
” I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.” Ps344
Thank you dear Hope, it is all our wonderful Lord. It’s so wonderful that we can give all our fears to our Lord, because He did not give us a spirit of fear.
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2T1:17 https://biblehub.com/2_timothy/1-7.htm
Hi Janine, I was very encouraged by this testimony and I also testify that this excerpt “Restoring Your Relationship, Chapter 3” reinforced my belief that I should only look to the Lord. I was overwhelmed with great anxiety after my separation and divorce and until now I have to fix my eyes on the Lord so as not to capsize. Reading these testimonies reassures me that I am not the only one to have had these emotions. I bless the Lord for keeping my eyes fixed on Him.
Thank you dear Anna, for so many years I looked for help and comfort in people around me and no that did not give me peace at all. It is only our Darling Lord that can give us the peace that surpasses all understanding and right in the middle of the storm. Isn’t He just the Best!!!
