Peace in the midst of the storm? (Mark 4:39) Wow this is something I can definitely say I wasn’t familiar with and to some extent, was even skeptical whenever people spoke of experiencing such. How can this even be possible in the midst of so much pain, shame, anger, hurt and all other emotions we all experience (and can relate to) following the enemy’s attack on our lives & marriages? Well, all I can say is all praise & glory to the most high God, my beloved, as He has turned this former skeptic into a believer.
Luke 1:37 “For nothing will be impossible with God.โ
I am sure just as I used to, you too are probably wondering how this came to be. I have to admit that this wasn’t an overnight miracle but rather it’s been a journey full of tears, long painful days, fasting and prayers. Initially when I was still caught up in all that pain and anger, I failed to embrace Him and somehow thought I could do this on my own. Despite my rejection of Him, He patiently waited and continued to lovingly walk with me hand in hand. I truly believed I was the poor victim in all of this but as time went by and the pain still continued (despite all my efforts to “fix things”), it was obvious that I needed Him if only to try and make sense of this painful misery.
He answered my call for help by leading me to RMI and for that i’ll be forever grateful. He then started off by convicting me of all my sins and teaching me about the importance of forgiveness as part of my healing process. Oh and not just the one off, but that I had to keep forgiving (over and over) without keeping count. (Matthew 18:21-22) Thinking I was over the worst, shortly after the biggest and most scary request followed, which was that I surrender all to him. I was so scared of letting go and as a result, I resisted this for a while. This is when everything became so unbearable and each day was such a torture to get through.
In desperation I cried out to Him asking Him to rescue me as I was too tired and could no longer keep going on my own. At this point, I desperately needed Him and what a relief when I finally cried out to Him for help and He was right there!! Soon after when I eventually learned to trust Him and do what He’d been requesting me to do all along, my healing process began. All He ever asked was that I allow Him to bear my heavy load and let go of whatever/whoever I was so desperately clinging unto. I surrendered all to Him and He has since given me rest and my days are no longer filled with pain but rather by His peace and joy.
Matthew 11:28-30 โCome to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.โ
When I cried out to the Lord to reveal Himself to me and heal me from all the pain He has given me this peace that only He can. Yes, He did the impossible and has given me peace in the midst of the storm. And this my fellow bride is the journey that has brought me to this place of pure peace and joy. Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”.
I have learned to trust Him with everything and approach Him as my dear and beloved Husband. These last few days I’ve literally been beaming and still cannot believe this is happening despite there not being any physical change to my personal circumstances. He’s given me the biggest treasure I could ever ask for by making me His bride, and now I’m dancing with joy and praising Him each day in the middle of this storm. You too can join me in this dance by letting go and taking His hand. Who knew there was such joy to be had just by trusting & surrendering all to Him?
He really is able to do above and beyond all that we can ask for, so please be encouraged no matter what stage you are in your journey and dare to ask Him for the impossible. Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us”. He is a faithful God and His love is sufficient to raise you above any storm.
