Winning without a word and kindness is on her tongue are definitely not something the world teaches in these times. We are taught to fight, argue, defend and debate about what we think until we feel justified, heard or like we won the conversation. This was a big area in my life that the Lord needed to teach and work in me on because my mouth has really destroyed many relationships in my past. Our mouths really do have the power of life or death.
Lately I have had many trials come my way where I have needed the Lord's help in applying these very important Biblical principles. I was able to resist evil, win without a word and turn the other cheek when provoked with unkind words spoken to me and even led to agree at times in different situations. The blessings that came afterwards were evident because of the principles He taught me. It was not easy because at times my flesh wanted to take over but with His help and listening to His voice I was able to overcome.
A few days later I had another small trial and I responded to someone with the wrong heart, I wasn't mean or angry but kindness wasn't on my tongue. I felt convicted right away and I was upset that I had failed.
But He then reminded me of Romans 7:15-17 which says "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me." Even though this scripture talks about sinning and doing the wrongs things when I want to so eagerly do the right things, it gave me the courage and assurance that the Lord is still at work in me and will help me day by day to make those changes.
So I don't have to worry or focus so much on what I do wrong because the more I think about it, the more I fail. Its only with His grace that I can overcome these things in my life. He has shown me that I have come a long way from the contentious, argumentative, mean spirited woman that I use to be and that it is He who is working in me and who will continue to work in me until the day He comes back for me! Thank you Lord!
