After coming to Restore Ministries International and learning the true meaning and proper “procedure,” if you will, to tithe I have seen how this has poured over into my sons as well. Before I had talked to them about tithing and how we are to give our 10% back to the Lord but that was as far as I knew about it. I would also discuss with them how each time we give back to God, He will then honor our giving.

All that is true but it is soooo much more than that. When I learned the truth and the meaning of tithing, through the Wise Woman lesson and chapter, “Opening the Windows of Heaven,” I was repentant as I did not know that I was doing it wrong for so long. Well, once the scales fell off of my eyes, I knew that I needed to get right with God by way of my finances and tithe correctly. I needed to give back to the storehouse which was feeding me spiritually. I needed to give my 10% right away, that was to be paid first before I paid for anything else. I needed to give with a grateful and cheerful heart...the rest was up to God.

While going through this journey and my new found discovery on how to tithe. I started to notice that even my sons’ desire to tithe started to increase. My two teenage sons also started to follow suit. Each time they have received money for their birthdays, holidays or whatever the case may be, they have wanted to tithe what they have received. Now, after I picked my jaw up off of the floor, I have come to realize that the words that were spoken into them, have indeed been received.

I shared with my sons the struggles we have always had financially because my husband and I never tithed. Well, I did occasionally and it was not to a storehouse that was feeding me spiritually, it was just a church I used to attend. Anyways, my desire was for my sons to learn the “proper” way to not only tithe and do it with a cheerful and grateful heart, but also how to handle money, for I did not want them to go down the same pitfalls that their father and I did for our lack of knowledge.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NASB

Oftentimes, I wondered if my sons are really understanding these little “nuggets of gold” that I try to instill in them. However, this little nugget of gold is one that makes me overjoyed for they “got it!” My sons have asked me to tithe for them and that is what I do. They give me their tithe and then we give it to our storehouse here at RMI.

I have wanted to indicate this tithe as theirs and not mine however not until recently was I reminded by a fellow minister team member, the concept of giving a courtesy tithe! I completely forgot about this option. So from this moment forward, I know that my sons’ tithe will be all about them giving unto their Heavenly Father, even though He already knew it was from their little hearts to Him, them giving back to Him what is His.

Heavenly Husband, thank you so much for opening my eyes to the truth of this principle of tithing and causing this to overflow into my children. Thank you for opening my sons’ ears to hear and their willingness to give back to You. May this honor You through and through to plant these seeds of hope and encouragement through RMI to other hurting brides.

Beloved, maybe even one day, if it be Your will, You will open the door to create a ministry to reach and pour into teenagers and children who need hope and a future. Thank You for using my sons’ in order for me to see more of Your goodness. Thank You for this ministry. Thank You for my sons. Thank You for removing the scales from my eyes in order for me to find the Truth and walk into my abundant life with You.

“Test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” Malachi 3:10

“You shall give him the first fruits of your grain, your new wine, and your oil, and the first shearing of your sheep.” Deuteronomy 18:4

“For I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your borders...You shall bring the very first of the first fruits of your soil into the house of the Lord your God...” Exodus 34:24, 26
