RESTORED Marriage Testimony: “OW was Waiting for EH in his Car!”

What brought you to RMI? Please use this space to briefly let our readers know what your life was like when you first found us, Felicity, so our readers understand just what a miracle your restoration is.

Felicity, how did your restoration actually begin?

I was married 23 years when my husband and I had several crises in our marriage. For several years, as I grew up in the church, I became like Erin says religious Pharisee, which made ever crisis worse due to my spiritual arrogance.

It all came to a major crisis when my husband went out one evening and stayed away for 3 days. He had never done it before and when he came back, he said that he did not love me anymore and that he thought he had never loved me. Next, he told me that there was an OW “other woman” and that she is who he really loved and where he had found so much happiness, the happiness he’s always wanted so much, the happiness that I did not give him. So that day he packed all his clothes and left with her. (She was waiting for him in his car!).

How did God change your situation Felicity as you sought Him wholeheartedly?

Well, watching them drive away, the exact moment he left, I ran into my room, fell to my knees and began to pour myself out in the presence of God. Then when I opened the Bible, I came across Isaiah 54,

Isaiah 54:4-6—“Fear not, for you will not be put to shame; And do not feel humiliated, for you will not be disgraced; but you will forget the shame of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.

“For your Husband is your Maker, Whose name is the Lord of hosts; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of all the earth.

“’For the Lord has called you, Like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, Even like a wife of one’s youth when she is rejected,’ Says your God.”

Reading the words out loud, in tears, I sensed He was with me. I found many other verses, too, and soon after God in the middle of the night gave me a dream. When I woke up I asked the Lord what it was and He clearly told me: RESTORATION.

So I went on the internet and I started looking through dozens of marriage sites while I searched “Restoration” asking Him to show me, please show me where you want me to find hope, and that’s when I found the RMI.

Immediately from the first page, God began the work of transforming in my life, GLORY TO GOD!!!!!

What principles, from God’s Word (or through our resources), Felicity, did the Lord teach you during this trial?

They were all the principles, are you kidding me?! lol, but seriously, the lesson about the Contentious Woman, kindness in her tongue, having a Gentle and Quiet Spirit, were probably the first God used to begin to deal with me and to mold me. Wow, I cried a lot because I saw how much I needed to change and felt so guilty because my husband had left due to the person I’d become.

By the way, before the lessons, I bought the book How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage and I read it in 2 days and then bought the book A Wise Woman and read it every night, marking it up, highlighting it. Each day God taught me a lot.

What were the most difficult times that God helped you through Felicity?

At the beginning of the journey, because I was injured with my leg that hurt a lot, I felt so horrible. I lost a full 30 pounds in just a few weeks, but at the same time, I felt the hands of my Beloved holding me, guiding me and taking all the time I needed to be with Him on this life-changing journey. Once my leg was healed, my HH and I took long walks together just to talk about what I’d learned that day. All I can say is that this time alone with Him was something I would never have wanted to miss out on. It was (and still is) the most an amazing experience ever!

Felicity, what was the “turning point” of your restoration?

The point of the turn was when everything got worse, my EH no longer was anywhere. I lost almost all my friends, my sister (she thought I was crazy) and another very close friend I’d had for years who began to receive messages from my sister telling her I was going crazy, that I was completely delusional, that I’d lost all perspective and no longer faced reality. My sister and close friend said I needed to face up to just getting a divorce and moving on.

Though this was a turning point, it almost turned into my greatest demise because I’d failed to remain quiet with my family and friends. I told them what I believed because I always assumed they’d be behind me no matter what. But instead, it caused horrible things to happen, that almost got to me, making me give up.

But it was this that provided the means to force me to take my relationship farther with my Lord, when He became my HH, because I went ahead and stopped all “restoration” courses, joined Restoration Fellowship to focus on the Abundant Life courses. It’s then that I sensed He told me that though I wanted and needed only Him, very soon my EH “earthly husband” was coming back, and this is after I hadn’t heard or seen him for several months.

Tell us HOW it happened Felicity? Did your husband just walk in the front door? Felicity, did you suspect or could you tell you were close to being restored?

Once my HH spoke to me, saying he was coming back, and saying that it would sudden, so be ready—that’s exactly how it happened! He told me that he could no longer spend an entire night sleeping next to the OW. He said he would wake up feeling like he was on fire, he became nauseous and he’d have to go sleep on the couch.

So that morning, he got into his car and knew he needed to head home. He walked into my house, but when he came I was working. That night when I came home—there he was waiting for me. The first thing he asked me was if I had was already involved with another person because he said that I was different and I had this glow about me, a brightness to my face that he had never seen before. I smiled and said, Yes, that I was in love. That’s when he said, “Please, is there any chance I can come back? Would you ever consider being with me again? I still I love you, I always have. We have a life together, a story that together we can tell the world. There is no way to erase what we had. I want to be happy with you.”

Then he stopped, tears rolling down his cheeks and I said, “Yes, because the Man I am in love with wants me with you. He’s been speaking to me about you.” He just stared and I said, “Because the other Man is MY HEAVENLY HUSBAND!” He stood up, grabbed me in the tightest hug ever and we both just laughed and cried.

Even though it was 4 months before I found my HH, which meant pain, horrible pain (until He became my all in all) I have to say everything I suffered was worth it. Not only did God turn my husband’s heart back to me, just as He said He would that day when I read my evaluation from this wonderful ministry, but because I also had let go of my church, trusting that someday my EH would become my spiritual leader, God brought my husband full circle too! He is already taking me to church, he is attending a Bible study for men, and has cried multiple times at the altar when a particular sermon convicts him. Can I shout, GOD IS FAITHFUL!!!!? The Pharisee is gone and though I attend church with my husband, RF “Restoration Fellowship” will always be my church home.

Yes, I would recommend buying the paperback books, How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage AND A Wise Woman and then doing the courses. Each is wonderful. Once you embrace each principle, especially the Abundant Life courses, you and your world will never again be the same. His love will change you.

What I hope to leave for all the women who have been called on this journey of restoration for their marriages is that they should ever give up even though the situation appears entirely lost and impossible. For our God all things are possible, and that God’s new life and their new marriage was designed by God to give them the Abundant Life. Come with Him and let go of everything else, do everything that is necessary and taught to you. And if you do, and you obey the Lord without question, and you become His beloved bride and He your HEAVENLY HUSBAND then you have all you’ll ever need !!!!
