RESTORED Marriage Testimony: “He was on His Way to Find the OW”

Beatrix, how did your restoration actually begin?

All this started 3 years ago in April when I became suspicious of my husband's strange behavior and decided to look at the messages on his cell phone (today I know what I did was wrong). I was shocked when I saw a very long conversation with him and another woman. I was just 23 years old and about to have our first child. I did not know what to do. So, of course, I then confronted him and began to spread the whole painful story to all of our friends and family. Then I called the other woman, then I called her sister. I did everything wrong, and the result could not have been anything other than my husband leaving me.

My husband left me on our 2nd Anniversary. I do not need to say that I was devastated, and everyone treated me like the victim, the poor woman who had been abandoned with a child about to be born. But what everyone did not know, or rather they knew because my husband spoke to everyone about me, was that I was really to blame for all that was happening.

I was a Contentious, self-centered, bossy, spoiled wife. I wanted my will always and fought to get it, and what's worse (I'm so ashamed to say it) is I was unfaithful, not only to my Heavenly Husband, but also to my earthly husband, and he knew that but covered my sin and never told anyone.

At first, it was very difficult, because my EH wanted to divorce me right away. He talked about selling everything we had and to share the money. He was clear from the beginning that he would never come back to me, that he did not feel anything for me anymore, that he did not love me anymore.

How did God change your situation, Beatrix, as you sought Him wholeheartedly?

After all, this began to unfold, I really started to seek God and deeply regret everything. I asked my EH for forgiveness, and he said that he forgave me but that he was very hurt, and because I had spread the whole story about him, we had no way to go back. But from then on, I went deeper into the Word and started searching the internet for things about "marriage restoration." It was then that the Lord led me to the RMI. I began to read the book How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage, and soon the scales fell from my eyes. I realized that I had caused all that happened, that the "guilt" was really mine, but as I read more, the Lord showed me that my restoration was possible, even if my EH said that "never again" would he live with me, "not ever."

What principles, from God's Word (or through our resources), Beatrix, did the Lord teach you during this trial?

The first was to seek God so that He would become the first Person in my life, which meant I had to put into practice the difficult process of "Letting Go." I stopped sending messages to my EH, did not call anymore, and had no contact with him unless he contacted me. I was shocked when it happened the same way I read in the books and courses, as I put these principles into practice, my EH began to come around. And by this time, I no longer had a trace of bitterness in my heart, my words were kind, all thanks to My Beloved.

My days were no longer full of sadness and hopelessness, as they had been at the beginning of my journey. The Lord had really already broken me and was making me a new creature, and my EH also could see this was happening. He no longer brought up the subject of divorce or selling our things, but even if he spoke of these things again, I was ready to agree enthusiastically and be in submission. I gave everything to Him.

What were the most difficult times that God helped you through, Beatrix?

The Lord helped me through many difficult times. The most common was someone who'd come telling me something about my EH and the OW or they'd sent me pictures of the two of them together. Also when my EH left me at home with our daughter, just walking out on us, and I knew he was on his way to find the OW.

My relatives were also against him, especially my mother, who did not accept the fact that I did not want to get involved with someone else to forget my husband. To make me move on, she often told me things that hurt my heart, but I learned to give all those words to the Lord, and He soon filled me with peace and joy. My HH is wonderful.

Beatrix, what was the “turning point” of your restoration?

The turning point was probably when the Lord blessed me and I found out I was expecting a son. My husband was so happy, and that's when he said he would never leave me again and said it was wrong that he left me when we had our daughter.

Tell us HOW it happened Beatrix? Did your husband just walk in the front door? Beatrix, did you suspect or could you tell you were close to being restored?

It was all so fast, as only the Lord could do. We confirmed the pregnancy on Saturday and that we were having a boy, he left the OW on Sunday and by Monday, he'd already put his wedding ring back on his finger. Glory to God. God is awesome, His plans are perfect!

Would you recommend any of our resources in particular that helped you, Beatrix?

Yes, I recommend all the resources, the books, I have bought two (A Wise Woman that I read first and How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage). I also read the Encourager every day (they are true blessings). I read the devotions, I love all videos in the courses and I read all the restored marriage testimonies to keep me focused on what God wants to do for me.

Dear sisters, do not give up, no matter how difficult it is to cross this valley. No matter how impossible it may seem in our eyes, do not give up! God has promises for all of us. He hates divorce, and for Him NOTHING is impossible.

All of this can be yours in only a matter of time, but not our time, the appointed time set by God. He knows the exact moment that we are ready to receive our blessings. Believe it!
