RESTORED Marriage Testimony: “I Grew Up Believing I Was Not Good Enough”

♕Today's Promise: Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.Isaiah 61:7

Faith, how did your restoration journey actually begin?

My restoration started in May last year when my husband, Caleb, wanted to leave me because of my contentious, insecure ways for our whole 11 years of marriage.

You see I grew up believing I wasn't good enough and I saw my earthly dad cheat on his fiancé and that messed me up. I then had a couple of relationships that I was not supposed to be in but I wanted to be loved, and these men used me and hurt me.

I gave my life to the Lord at the age of 20 and I met Caleb in church. He was a man on fire for the Lord and we got married a year after. He was a very sweet man, and he took his time to explain to me the word of God every time I had an insecurity melt down.

I was always accusing Caleb of cheating because I was so scared that if he cheated that would mean I am not good enough, so I belittled him and accused him and made things so difficult

He met someone at work and they started talking and ended up liking each other and he believed I was a mistake and this OW was what he needed. So, in May he told me about her, and he wanted to leave. God quickly turned it around and we had a sweet restoration for a month and a half.

It was so amazing but then my distrust started happening again and this time he totally locked me off and focused solely on the OW (other woman). In my devastation I was searching the internet for restoration testimonies, and I came across RMI and it changed my life.

Faith, how did God change your situation as you sought Him wholeheartedly?

When I read this book (How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage: From Someone Who’s Been There):

I saw myself and all the things I did wrong
All my sin
I was so devastated
He changed my heart ❤
It was so hard but so worth it
I became a Gentle and Quiet Spirit
I stopped asking questions
I served Caleb and loved him but most of all
I FOUND THE LOVE OF MY LIFE my Beloved Lord 😍

I realised that all the love I ever wanted was really the Love of God. I wanted so much to be loved that I looked for it in all the wrong places when the Love I desired was with the Lord.

Faith, what were the most difficult times that God helped you through?

The most difficult times my Beloved helped me through were when he was coming home from work late because he was with her. This was breaking my heart.

Our anniversary was on the OW (other woman) birthday and our anniversary was the worst because he hated me. Caleb is a very open man, so I had to hear of the things going on between him and her my heart was shattered.

Faith, what was the “turning point” of your restoration?

When I truly let go and held on to the Lord, Caleb began noticing how much I changed.

His hate wall came down and he was kind to me and gentle.

He even told me that I became the most beautiful person he has known. He started telling me he loved me.

Tell us HOW it happened, Faith? Did Caleb just walk in the front door? Did you suspect or could you tell you were close to being restored?

Well Caleb never left home but the hate wall came down and he was so very gentle. To be honest because we had many false starts my mind was focussed on my Beloved, but I was definitely taking note that Caleb's attitude was changing towards me.

What principles, from God's Word (or through our resources), did the Lord teach you during this trial, Faith? Would you recommend any of our resources in particular that helped you?

Oh, so many.
A quiet and gentle spirit was the top one. I read and re read that a lot.
Also, the principle of letting go. The book "How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage" was a total blessing. I am sure if the Lord did not lead me to it, I would not have a restored marriage or even see the Lord move in so many ways because I would still be the victim and not even see myself or even have gotten to LOVE my Beloved Lord with all of me.

Also, Erin's Be Encouraged: Video Series were total blessings for me. It encouraged my heart.

Also, the Psalms & Proverbs and the technique Erin taught us 🩵

Do you have favorite Bible verses that you would like to pass on to women reading your Testimonies? Promises that He gave you?

Oh, yesss many

"They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces will never be ashamed.” Psalm 34:5

"Delight yourself in the LORD; and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

"GOD said, 'For nothing will be impossible WITH GOD.'" Luke 1:37

"They will possess a double portion in their land . . .I will* faithfully give them their recompense [reward, repayment]." Isaiah 61:7

"The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes” (Prov. 21:1).

Either way, Faith, what kind of encouragement would you like to leave women with, in conclusion?

My sweet ladies, I know the journey seems hard at times but hold on to our Beloved Lord. God can do the impossible. What is impossible with us is more than possible with HIM. Wrap yourself in HIM, He is the best lover, He is faithful, kind, loving, protective. He is everything we desire. Focus on the LORD. Once I did this, once I let go to the point of not even desiring restoration anymore because I had Him, that's when things began to turn around.
