Dear Brides, this Chapter 14 “You’re Beautiful!!” in Living the Abundant Life will bring you to a more understanding of how beautiful you are to Him!!!
“Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised” (Proverbs 31:30)
I always struggled with the way I look, this chapter really hit me. I’m Brazillian, I was hurt because of what people said about my appearance. I wanted so much to be like the pretty girls from my school, but always there was something inside me that bothered me so much of how much I needed to try to be like them. It was so hurtful when people said that I was pretty but not like the other girls, It was not about my looks.
Looking back I believe that He was already molding me, I was young and not a believer and I did not understand how people saw me. But today being His Bride, I believe that His love shines on my face, and doesn’t matter what I’m wearing or if I have makeup, people look at me and they see the difference.
I will never forget the day I was sitting with a girl who was going through a different season in her life, I was not looking my best: my hair was dirty and in a messy bun, I had no makeup, and she could not stop staring at me and said how beautiful I was. I thought that she was making fun of me, and I looked to my other friend who was laughing and she was wise to share that what the girl was seeing was the Lord in my life.
He showed me how He sees me and how He loves me, He brought to my mind that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. The way I look was the way He designed me to be, He formed me, so I don’t want to change what He created. It gives me so much peace to know that I don’t need to be someone that others praise about because of my outside because He looks to our heart. What my Beloved think is more important than the worldly standards of beauty.
It is not that I don’t care about the way that I look, meaning I like to take care of my health by eating good foods, exercising, I have a beauty routine, but everything that I do is for Him, my Beloved Husband. I am not obsessed at how others think about my outward appearance, but instead, focus on loving Him and doing everything for His Glory.
“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)
As women, we tend to struggle with this so let’s lift up our voices in prayer: Lord, thank you so much for reminding me of how you see me, as your bride. Help me to remember when I go through difficult seasons, help me to encourage women, so that they can discover their value in you and not in what the world says about them. Lord, please forgive me for caring more about what others think about me when what You say is the truth. Forgive so much for want to impress and receive praise from others.
Forgive me Lord for letting the worldly ways get into my heart.
Dear Brides, I’m sure that all of us struggle with what others said about us, but I believe that in reading this Chapter 14 “You’re Beautiful!!“, you will find the truth about you that really matters.
Living the Abundant Life brings me to a closer and solid relationship with my Beloved. It’s one of my prayers that others who read this book can also find the Love of their lives.
