Beauty in Tithing

♕ Today's Promise: “Otherwise, you may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.’ But you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth” Deuteronomy 8:17-18

Dear brides, I think you'll appreciate this Poverty Mentality Chapter 6 “Obedience Rather Than Sacrifice” because it shared about the beauty in tithing and also to then remember that He can afford the things you think you can't. That obedience is better than sacrifice. What a big weight that is lifted, hey?!

This was a great revisit to the principle of tithing and also His provision.

It's neat to be reading this again because just recently my friend asked for prayer concerning her finances. What I always remind them is that if they tithe, that God promises to rebuke the devour. That the enemy can't steal and that no matter what by honoring His commandment by giving our first fruits...our tithe and offering that He will provide!

That's when she quietly said that she'd been convicted because she hadn't been tithing. She said she used to but slowly stopped. Her bills became so substantial that she couldn't "afford" to tithe but starting now —she would begin tithing again!!

I appreciated the reminder that we should never think we can't afford something —if He's asking us to obey and trust Him.

It happened to me today or yesterday night actually that I heard Him so clearly. My friend's wedding is less than two weeks away (I'm one of her bridesmaids:)) and yesterday we decided on the wrap that would go with the dress. When I saw the price though, I thought of my friend, also a bridesmaid, who couldn't afford it. When I asked Him, He told me to take care of it for her. I don't really have the money to do it, but in obedience I took care of it!

The simple thing is to ask. How do I serve you today? How do I serve the people around me today?

Thank you for bringing me closer to you day by day Thank you Lord that I know you are my provider. That I don't have to worry. That you'll not only pour into me where it's overflowing because I tithe but that I'll reap what I sow into others!

“‘You look for much, but behold, it comes to little; when you bring it home, I blow it away. Why?’ declares the Lord of hosts, ‘Because of My house which lies desolate, while each of you runs to his own house’” Haggai 1:9.

“Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed Thee?’ In tithes AND offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you!” Malachi 3:8–9.
