September 1
âAnd now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me; and I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lordâ (Ps. 27:6).
Beloved, are you in the midst of the war? Are you bloody and beaten? Is your strength about to give out? Are you entertaining thoughts of giving up and giving in to your discouragement? Then, Beloved, you are not sitting with the Lord and falling in love with Him. If God is for you, who cares who is against you? Â
Beloved, God is a jealous God. He has allowed this time for you to be alone with Him, to fall in love with Him, to know Him intimately. Why do you continue to seek for what He has removed from you? It was He who removed lover and friend far from you. It was He who made you a loathing to them. Leaving your first love, your Jesus, will leave you in despair. Â
Beloved, Jesus is who you really need. Your husband, boyfriend, or any other man has nothing to give you; they, too, need Jesusâthey need His love. But the only way they are going to get it is from the overflowing love that you possess because you have been sitting for hours, for days, for weeks, for months at the feet of your blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And with that love that overflows, you can be used as a vessel to allow His love to touch the world around you. But if you too are needy, then when anyone rejects you, or smites you, or fails to show his or her love for you, you will be devastated. Â
Sit at His feet. Behold His face. Then sing, yes, sing praises to the Lord, for He is worthy! Hallelujah!!
September 2
âDo not fret because of evildoers, be not envious toward wrongdoersâ (Ps. 37:1).
Oh Beloved, are you fretting, worrying, because of those who are doing you evil? Do you believe their plans will be carried out as they have stated? Is not God on our side? Has He not promised to thwart their way? Then why do you fret? The Lord is more than able to conquer and carry out what concerns you! To be worried, irritated, or agitated about those who make plans to do you evil is not faith, my Beloved, it is looking in the wrong direction. We are to look up, for our redemption draweth nigh! He is coming. And as we wait, we behold His face and we are changed. Nothing matters, save Him alone.
Beloved, has your heart become envious toward wrongdoers? Do you look at the other person who now has possession of your husband, your boyfriend, or something you long to posses and envy them? Do you look with jealously at those around you who appear to have everything going well for them? Â
Oh, Beloved, donât look with the eyes of flesh; focus with your spiritual eyes. Do you see the sad state of their existence? Most are in deep in sin, and sin separates us from the presence and love of God. How could we, who bask in His love and in His presence, envy the darkness of sin? Oh, if we could but feel the fear and loneliness behind their laughs and smiles, we would pray for them, fast for them, and cry out for them all the more.
Look with the eyes of the Father, from above, and you will rise above all fleshly observations.
September 3
âFor they will wither quickly like the grass, and fade like the green herbâ (Ps. 37:2).
Beloved, the grass that grows looks so lush, healthy, and vibrant, but it is a life that is short and withers quickly; it fades in the sunlight rather than flourishing. Sin and those who commit sin often frighten us as they advance toward us to harm, hurt, and steal. But we, as believers and lovers of God, have this promise from our Savior: "they will wither quickly and soon fade away!" And all of His promises are âyesâ and âamenâ hallelujah!
Beloved, do you see that sin and evildoers have no future? Believe rather in the living, sovereign, and loving God, your Savior! Donât spend your time looking intently at the lush grass and green herb, since it will convinced you of its danger.
Instead, increase your faith as you look intently at the perfect and holy Word of God. Go to your prayer closet and seek the face of God. For without faith it is impossible to please Him. Then in your mind, where this battle is raging, you will see the grass wither and the green herb fade. No longer will you be anxious, but you will walk in the perfect peace that He gives you. âMy peace I leave you.â
September 4
âTrust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulnessâ (Ps. 37:3).
Beloved, are you trusting in the Lord? Are you doing good in your life? Or do you, today, fret and worry? There is only one way that you can cultivate faithfulness and that is to prepare the soil of your heart to produce fruits. This is why your heart feels like it is breaking; it is breaking up the soil of your heart in order to receive Godâs seed of faith. Â
How can we trust Him with a hardened heart? We often have not allowed the pain to penetrate our hearts, but instead, we harden ourselves so we will feel no pain. We feel vengeance instead of brokenness, because we think brokenness is to be feared and we therefore attempt to thwart it. We turn away from the pain instead of pulling it closer to our bosom.
Beloved, you must trust that the Lord has asked you to walk hand in hand, side by side, with suffering and sorrow in order to bring you out into the light of all men. Jesus was acquainted with grief; He learned obedience through the things He suffered.
As the trials bring pain on their wings, open your heart to accept them with open arms. Allow the pain that will give you the heart of flesh that you have been longing for. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell right where the Lord has you while you cultivate the faithfulness you need to overcome any evil that has beset you.
September 5
âDelight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heartâ (Ps. 37:4).
Beloved, who is your delight? Do you excitedly spend time with the Lord? Do you delight as you read His promises in His Word? Is He your all in all? Have you come to the place that to stay in this state of aloneness you could be content, because you have all that you needâHim? Beloved, this is the threshold of your miracle. It is the place of utter peace, joy, and love that you must find inside, in the midst of your desert land, in your destitution and in your abandonment. You must smile from within your heart as you say, âIt is well with my soul.â
Beloved, it is here, in this state of your heart, that the Lord will give you the desires of your heart. When you no longer long for what He has taken away from you. But woe to him who continues to look longingly out the window for something or someone else, to give into the yearning that overwhelms them day by day, moment by moment. You try to forget what you do not have, but it only increases your desire, until it becomes an obsession. No, the only way to let go of your loved-one who was taken from you is to find a new Love, and that is the Lord! He is the One whom you must delight in; yearn to be with, long to spend time with. Only then will He give you the desires of your heart, when He knows you belong to Him alone.
September 6
âCommit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will do itâ (Ps. 37:5).
Beloved, have you committed your way to the Lord? Have you pledged your devotion to Him? Have you dedicated yourself to Him? Are you entrusted to Him for your protection? Beloved, this is not a journey that you can afford to go alone. You need not just a guide who points the way, but you need One who will go with you on your journey leading the way. And His way, His steps are those of His own life. Walking in the ways of Jesus, walking in His love, walking in His forgiveness: blessing those who cursed Him and rejected Him, forgiving those who spat upon Him, who nailed Him to the cross, and washing the feet of the one who would betray Him. This is the committed way of Jesus.
Beloved, do you trust Him? Or do you trust your own judgment, your own plan? Do you trust what you see, or do you trust what He has promised? Without trust, you will choose to take another path that seemeth good, but in the end it is the road to destruction. The committed way is the way of dying to self, taking up His cross and following Him. And once we take this journey, unwavering in our heart or mind, because of our trust in Him, He fulfills His promise . . .
He will do it.
September 7
âAnd He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noondayâ (Ps. 37:6).
Beloved, is your way dark? Is it surrounding you as a heavy blanket of doom? Seek His righteousness, let Him mold you, change you, and refine you. Then, He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, to light the way of the one you love who now sits in darkness. You will arise and shine, and all who sit in darkness will come to your light.
Beloved, let us never forget that our good works, our righteousness, is nothing but filthy rags compared to His garment that is as white as snow. Get your sins under the blood of Jesus. Turn from evil and do good. Overcome the evil that besets you with good. This comes from a heart that is a forgiven heart, one that is cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Freed from sin to live in sin no longer. Free to love, free to forgive, free to follow Him.
Then the judgment against you will be as the noonday. It will shine before all men that He may be glorified.
September 8
âRest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemesâ (Ps. 37:7).
Beloved, where do you rest your weary head? On the bosom of Lord? Rest in Him. There you will find rest for your soul. It is He who will fight the battle. It is He who will lead and guide in the midst of all your troubles. Rest. Trust. And He will do it. Beloved, wait. Do not become anxious. Know that it is coming and it is worth waiting for. Do not look for another, but wait patiently for Him alone. Let Him be your beloved. Listen for His call in the night. Get up quickly to meet Him. It is in Him that you will find joy, peace, happiness, and fulfillment.
Beloved, has your joy and peace been replaced by fretting? Do you see those who are against you prospering in their schemes? Have you gone so far as to envy the freedom and success they apparently possess? The prosperity you see is temporal, with none of the peace and joy that you possess, if you are resting in the Lord, if you are waiting patiently for Him.
Oh, Beloved, how will the lost ever find their way in the darkness of sin if we do not become light for them? If we do not become as the noonday as we seek the better things like Mary? We must sit at the feet of Jesus, drinking in all that He has for us. Beloved, rest in the Lord, wait patiently for Him, and do not fret.
September 9
âCease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret, it leads only to evildoingâ (Ps. 37:8).
Beloved, is anger still in you? You must renounce it, give it up, and sacrifice it to the Lord; even if it gives you an outlet for a moment. It is sin. Desiring vengeance when it belongs to the Lord will not turn the heart of those who persecute you; on the contrary, it will harden it. Wrath is Godâs punishment for sin. And you will thwart Godâs hand as long as you harbor wrath and anger in your heart against the things your enemy is saying or doing.
Beloved, this anger and wrath began with your fretting, your worrying. It is what will lead you to thoughts of evildoing in your heart. And once in your heart, if not pulled up at the root, it will lead to evildoing. Creating schemes and plans of your own will stop the hand of God. Scheming and fretting will cause you to open your mouth when it should have remained closed.
Today, ask the Lord to pull up the root of any hidden anger and the root of bitterness. Then forsake and turn away from any temptation to wrath. Once you feel the least tinge of it, pray blessings for that person, as we are commanded to do, and experience the peace and joy that comes from a heart after God.
September 10
âFor evildoers will be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord, they will inherit the landâ (Ps. 37:9).
Beloved, the promise is here: those who are now doing evil will be cut off. No longer will God allow this torrent of trials to continue. The onslaught of the wicked and their schemes will soon cease. Will you be there, faithfully waiting? Will you be there to rejoice in the Lord? For only those who have faithfully waited will inherit the promise.
Oh, how many fall aside. Beloved, do not let it fasten its grip on you. Do not turn aside to the left or to the right; instead, keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith.
Do not turn aside to myths or gain for yourself teachers in accordance with your desires. Salvation is in Him. Rest in Him and He will do it. Wait patiently for Him. Salvation belongs to the Lordâhallelujah!!
September 11
âYet a little while and the wicked man will be no more; and you will look carefully for his place, and he will not be thereâ (Ps. 37:10).
Beloved, oh, the promises of God! He is true to His Word when you believe it, trust in it, and obey it. That wicked person who has been lurking, causing your heart to faintâsoon, oh so soon, will be no more. Oh, how faithful the Lord has been to me. How many times have I looked for the place where wickedness once resided; I looked carefully, but wickedness was gone. No more dread, no more pain, no more sorrow. âOh, taste and see that the Lord is good and worthy to be praised!
Beloved, take Him at His Word. His power, fueled by love, is more powerful than the evil that is now overwhelming you. Hide there in it, in His peace, safety, and security. Hide there until He has accomplished every promise He has made to you in His Word. He is not a God that He should lie; but He, His very nature, is truth.
Oh, Beloved, thank Him now for the good and faithful God that He is. Draw close to Him in times of troubles. Know that you are never alone but merely a call away from Him. Yet in a little while...
September 12
âBut the humble will inherit the land, and will delight themselves in abundant prosperityâ (Ps. 37:11).
Beloved, soon, oh so soon, you will be living in the abundant prosperity of the riches of the Lord, in His peace. No longer will there be talk of war, troubles, and ambushes, and you will find rest for your soul. Your humility of relying totally on your God, the Maker of the whole universe, of being bowed down in soul, mind, and spirit, is your inheritance. God will give it to you. You cannot earn it; you must inherit it. It is willed to the humbleâthey shall inherit it.
Beloved, are you broken? Are you poured out before the Lord? This is the person who will receive great things of the Lord. The meek will inherit; the humble will inherit. Struggling, fighting, fretting, and working at it will not allow you to obtain it. It is the Lordâs to give to those who are delighting themselves in Him. Sitting at His feet. Resting in Him.
Beloved, only the humble will inherit the land, only they will delight themselves in the abundant prosperity the Lord has stored up for them. It is but the humble...
September 13
âMy son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandmentsâ (Prov. 3:1).
My beloved daughter, do not forget the teachings of the Lord. Do not forget the commandments of our God. For they, indeed, are a graceful wreath about your head and ornaments about your neck. Do not let the sinful ways of this world entice you to follow them, for they, the wicked, the Lord is turned away from them. Even their prayer is an abomination to Him who is holy. But the Lord is near to those who fear Him.
Beloved, it is a heart condition that the Lord is seeking. He looks not at the outward, but on the inward, for the Lord looks at the heart. It is the heart of our desiring to keep His commandments, not by works of righteousness that we have done, or will do, but according to His mercy He has saved us, and will save us, now, from the destruction that seems to have taken hold of our lives.
Yet, Beloved, treasure His teachings and His commandments in your heart, that you might not sin against them.
September 14
âFor length of days and years of life, and peace they will add to youâ (Prov. 3:2).
Beloved, what is the reward for those who fear the Lord, for those who are faithful to keep His commandments? What is the reward for those who have treasuredâyes, treasuredâHis Word in their hearts? The reward is the length of our days and the years of our life. What a precious promise in light of your situation. As the days when we are separated from our loved ones cause us to be anxious, once again He is telling us to âfear not,â for our days will be long in the land of our salvation when once again we are restored to whom we love. There are many days ahead, which is our promise in this verse, so we can rest in our present situation knowing that, because of our righteousness and our love for Him, we will have many days ahead to enjoy our lives reunited.
Oh, Beloved, and could we forget the peace that is added to these times of trials and distress? This, too, will be added to us. How do you explain to someone the peace in the midst of the storms? How do we explain the ultimate peace that we have never known until now? The resting, quietness, and the incredible peacefulness, as the storms and the battles rage against us but never touch usâthis is the peace that we know. For here we sit in the shadow of the Almighty, under His magnificent wings, safe, above our enemies. Here we are sitting at the feet of our precious Savior.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
September 15
âDo not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heartâ (Prov. 3:3).
Beloved, do not let kindness leave you. Oh, how easy it is to forget the lovingkindness we have received from our Love, our Savior, and our friend, that we would not allow it to leave us, that we do not have it to give anotherâanother even more desperate and dry than what we are. We withhold our kindness to others while drinking in all of His.
Beloved, it should not be so, for just as we have freely received from God, we must freely give. We are the ambassadors of our God, the very word of reconciliation. Our kindness will entreat others to find refuge in a Savior. Or do you not know that the lovingkindness of God, the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, the kindness of God, has led you to repentance? How then will our loved one, who is separated from God, even know and understand unless we show them through our forgiveness, our kindness, our forbearance, and our patience when they sin against us?
Oh, Beloved, bind kindness and truth around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. For this is your salvation and the salvation of the one you love and are praying for.
September 16
âSo you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and manâ (Prov. 3:4).
Beloved, have you found favor in the sight of your God? Do you know that He looks on you as a beloved child of His? This is because you have held onto the kindness and truth that brings about true and lasting blessings. Oh how the Lord loves to surround us with favor as if it was a wreath about our head. How precious He is!
Beloved, only through Him will you have a good reputation. But even if your reputation is damaged by revealed truths or even lies, never try to seek to improve your own reputation. Never try to defend yourself, so that God is free to defend you supernaturally! Â
Beloved, if you seek God above all else, then you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and all men. Thank you Jesus.
September 17
âTrust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understandingâ (Prov. 3:5).
Beloved, our trust is in Him, not in what we understand or can reason. It is a heart condition. It is when reason and calculations come up short and in favor of our enemy, or when our circumstances outweigh our abilities to obtain victoryâit is there, in the midst of our apparent defeat, that we must trust in the Lord. This is the trusting âwith all our heartâ that this verse proclaims.
Beloved, our victory comes not from leaning on our own understanding but on the Lord. And not just on the Lord, but also on His promises, which He has given us and we have hidden in our hearts. Have you safely hidden your promises deep in your heart? For the enemy would love to come and snatch them by making you reason, by making you take a good, long look at the circumstances and how you come up short.
Yet, Beloved, there is no one to help us, no one between the powerful and those who (like us) have no strength. Cry out to Him and ask Him to help you. âHelp us, oh Lord, for we trust in You, and in Your name will we be able to come against this multitude and the onslaught of wickedness. Thou art our God; let not man prevail against us. For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the whole earth that He may strongly support those whose hearts are completely His. Amen.â
September 18
âIn all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straightâ (Prov. 3:6).
Beloved, do you go about your ways without acknowledging the One who lights your way? Do you seem to always be stumbling, falling down, or feeling concerned as though you have lost your way? Then, Beloved, seek Him before you set off on your day. David âinquired of the Lordâ a second time when coming against his enemy. He did not assume that he should attack once again. Nor when he heard from the Lord that He would âgive himâ his enemies, did he not think he would need to âinquire of the Lordâ how He wanted him to advance. The first and second ways were totally different.
Yet, Beloved, we tend to face our enemies and our trials from our previously won battles, failing to acknowledge Him, failing to inquire of Him. Then we leave the battlefield torn, battered, bruised, and feeling defeated. We leave the battle wondering if He indeed loves us.
Beloved, only as we are faithful to seek Him in all our dealings, in all our ways, will He make our paths straight and smooth. Oh, yes, we will still come upon our enemies along the route He has chosen for us, but we will know ahead of time how He wants us to move, where He wants us to go, how He wants us to handle each situation. Will it be by âstanding and seeingâ the salvation of the Lord? Will it be with a âshoutâ when the walls will fall to the ground? Only your heavenly Father knows how you are to win your next battle. Inquire of Him.
September 19
âDo not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evilâ (Prov. 3:7).
Beloved, oh, the sweetness of victory, when we are delivered and set on a rock high above our enemies! And how glorious that He is the One who has done it all, so we can rest in Him now, and with each and every battle that comes against us, knowing that we are not alone and that He will take care of us.
Oh, my Beloved, how good to know that we simply must turn from any evil and look to Him. There is no more that is needed on our part. We are powerless over the evil tendencies of our flesh, and those that come from others, but praise the Lord, He has conquered all sin with His painful death and glorious resurrection. He has put all evil, death and dying under His feet. Now we can sit there at His feet giving Him the glory and love He so deserves!
Today, sit a while and acknowledge your love and dependence upon Him.
September 20
âIt will be healing to your body, and refreshment to your bonesâ (Prov. 3:8).
Beloved, are you sick in body? Sick in soul? He alone will bring the healing to your body. Cry out to Him in your infirmities. His ear is not so dull that He cannot hear. Nor is His arm so short that it cannot reach down and touch that sickness in your body, soul, or spirit. How will you be healed? By resting in Him, by trusting in Him, by leaning on Him, by acknowledging Him,; this will bring about healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.
Beloved, have you tasted the living waters? Have you tasted and seen that the Lord is good and worthy to be praised? Deep in your marrow, deeply hidden, where the life of the blood originates, that is where the Lord wants to touch you today. A bone marrow transplant totally can change the blood type of the person as he accepts it from the giving donor. Oh, today, as we sit silently in the presence of our Life, our Lordâcould He not transform our marrow from our earthly to His heavenly? Could He not, as the great Physician, do this spiritual work in us with His loving hands? Transforming us, healing us, and bringing true and lasting refreshment to our bones?
This morning, let us sit in His waiting room, seeking His help and transforming powers on our body, soul, mind, and emotions. For He is our Husband, and we are married to a Physician.
September 21
âHonor the Lord from your wealth, and from the first of all your produceâ (Prov. 3:9).
Beloved, are you honoring the Lord from your wealth? Everything that you have is the Lordâs. Are you faithful to give the first portion of your wealth back to Him? Oh, the poverty that most of this world lives in! And we, each and every one of us, live better than most of the world. We live better than King Solomon who was the richest man of all time, yet we complain that we do not have enough.
Beloved, to give to the Lord, to give into the advancement of His kingdom, is to show that you honor Him. To withhold anything that is due Him is to stop the flow of blessings that He wants to shower you with. We stand with our arms stretched to heaven pleading that He give us our husband back, boyfriend back, son or daughter back, and give us a future rich in hope and joy, yet we stand unwilling to bless His work, to advance His kingdom, to fight back the enemy that has overcome and stolen from us.
Beloved, God doesnât want what you have left over; He wants the first fruits. He wants to know, once again, that He is firstâfirst before your needs and first before your desires, even first before your creditors, because we are more indebted to Him for what He has given to us than anyone or anything.
For when He is first, then all things will be added unto you. If you are in need right now, trust the Lord, give to Him, and watch the heavens open up above you. Everything on the earth is His, and He will send down showers of blessings to you as you honor Him and give Him your first and best.
September 22
âSo your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wineâ (Prov. 3:10).
Beloved, are your barns full, or are they standing empty, lacking? Do you lack, lack in what you really need? Then, give to the Lord. Give of your time, your resources. Give of your love, even if it comes from a heart that is broken. Give of your first fruits. Give until it hurts, until you are empty. Look at the widow woman who gave all she had out of her poverty. She was the one whom Jesus praised, who made Him notice her. This is the way to move heaven and earth for you and your situation. But, shamefully, we withhold. We are afraid to go without, so we remain needy, since we are failing to recognize the One who supplies all our needs.What we have is not so that we can store them up, but so that we can give freely to the lost and hurting.
Beloved, seek the Lord today as to where He wants you to give, how He wants you to give. We are connected to the One who is the supplier of all good things. We have in our hearts the One who can fill all the needs of those who are hurting, abandoned, and desperate.
Do not withhold from anyone today. Open your hand, open your heart, and give. Give freely that your barns will be filled with plenty, more than you need, that your vats with be overflowing with the new wine of His love.
September 23
âMy son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord, or loathe His reproofâ (Prov. 3:11).
Beloved, have you rejected the discipline of the Lord? Have you whined, complained, and pointed your finger at those whom God has chosen to use? Do you feel these trials are unwarranted? Do you feel you do not deserve this treatment? Do not reject the discipline of the Lord, for whom the Lord loveth, He chastises, to show that you are indeed His daughter!
Oh, dear soul, why are you cast down? Why do you go about as though the Lord has rejected you? He is not as concerned with your comfort as He is with your conversion. He has promised to complete the good work that He has begun in you. Yet you say, âI am different right now! Oh, Lord, how much longer?â âHow long will men reproach me?â âIs this a deceptive stream?â âWhy has this wound been incurable, refusing to be healed?â
Beloved, He has promised to restore you. His promises are âyesâ and âamen.â Yet in a little while and you will no longer see your enemy. You will look for them, but you will not find them. Abraham patiently endured, and he was given the fulfillment of the promise. Oh, how many have not endured it? How many have endured, but endured impatiently? How many were not content in the situation, failed to trust God, and did not obtain the promise?
Beloved, do not reject or pull away from the discipline of the Lord. Never loathe His reproof. It is the path of restoration on which you asked Him to take you and He promises to be faithful.
September 24
âFor whom the Lord loves He reproves, even as a father, the son in whom he delightsâ (Prov. 3:12).
Beloved, dearly Beloved, the chastisement you endure shows that you truly are His daughter. How can anyone say when He is reproved of the Lord that He has turned His back on me? God loves you as a child of His. If He sent His only begotten Son, whom He loved, to the cross, how much more should He allow us to suffer to learn obedience? Have you ever thought about why God allowed the suffering to be accomplished by the Son whom He loved so much? Was it not for the sins of you and me? And now, your loved one is in sin. Separated, just as we were separated, because of sin. Should God not also allow our suffering to accomplish the salvation of the one on whose behalf we cry out?
Oh, how willingly Jesus faced the cross on our behalf. How do we face our cross? Do we go to our Gethsemane? Do we kneel before Him to seek His face? Or do we run from our calling like the disciples? Will we hear the words that we long to hear when we finish running this race: âWell done, my good and faithful servant; now enter into my restâ? Or will we walk away, hanging our heads because we were not willing to give up what we were afraid to lose?
Beloved, lay it all down today. Pick up your cross and follow Him. Accept His reproofs and know it shows that you are one in whom He delights.
September 25
âHow blessed is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understandingâ (Prov. 3:13).
Beloved, what are you seeking? Are you looking for what would bless you, bless others, and bless your situation? Oh, how unsearchable is the mind of Christ! Do we seek the mind of Christ, the blessings of finding wisdom? Solomon was asked if he wanted fame, riches, long life, or the life of his enemies, but he wanted none of these thingsâhe wanted the wisdom of God, and not for himself, but in order to fulfill the call on his life. He chose the right thing, for God not only gave him wisdom but also wealth and honor. Men and women, kings and queens, all came to seek out the wisdom of Solomon, and with them they brought the riches of the world to lay at his feet.
Oh, Beloved, have you sought the best things? Wisdom shouts in the streets; she lifts up her voice. Oh, naive one, how long will you love simplicity of mind? How long will you spurn reproof?
The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. Wisdom will guide you; truth will watch over you. Hide them in your heart, treasure them, seek them. For the man who finds wisdom and gains understanding is blessed by the Lord. Search for her while she may be found.
September 26
âFor its profit is better than the profit of silver, and its gain than fine goldâ (Prov. 3:14).
Beloved, oh, the profits of wisdom and understanding! Never a price can be put on these precious commodities. Without them, we seek to do the foolish things that bring us so much heartache, so much distress. But with wisdom, with understanding, we are able to rule our lives with the same components God had when He fashioned the earth.
Beloved, it is not leaning on our own understanding that is as precious as gold; it is the leaning unto His understanding as we seek Him. It is the path that our finite mind cannot understand but our spirit embraces as we seek Him. Again it is the Giver of these precious gifts that we seek, not the gift.
Beloved, seek the face of God today, not the hand of God. Seek oneness with Him, not deliverance from your situation. When you behold the face of God, all else is trivial and insignificant. All things that hurt and dismay will pass away, and behold, all things become radiant and new.
September 27
âI waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cryâ (Ps. 40:1).
Beloved, have you waited for the Lord? Has that waiting been with patience or anxiousness? Oh, how our impatience forces us and compels us to do something we know we should not do. We try, pray, and make futile plans in our heads in order to bring about what we believe we so desperately need now. We fear that He will move too late to save us, that He somehow is not aware that time is running out. And in our fretting we sin. Because without faith, faith in our Lord, we do not please God, but we instead grieve the Holy Spirit.
Beloved, this is the scheme of the devil. When we do this thing that dishonors God, we are playing right into the hands of the enemy. And he knows quite well that as long as he can get us to worry and doubt, then we will loose a portion of our faith. And then he can stall our miracle just long enough, he hopes, that we will give up and turn back, erroneously believing we must have missed God.
Beloved, He will incline His ear to your cry for help. This delay does not mean that the Lord is willing to risk your missing His divine intervention; but instead, He is fulfilling the perfect and precious plan that He has for you. Do you not know that your miracle is perfect and perfectly orchestrated? And it is not an alternate plan, one less than your heartâs desire, for He has promised that, when we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us the desires of our hearts. Now wait patiently for the Lord and rest in His love.
September 28
âHe brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firmâ (Ps. 40:2).
Beloved, when you begin to get anxious because nothing is happening, then this is the time you must rehearse in your mind the day He brought you up out of the pit of destruction. Do you remember the days before you knew that there was hope in Him? Do you remember when all seemed hopeless? When everyone was telling you that everything was over forever, that there was no hope. Yet, in your pain, you cried out to Him and He brought you hope. And on the wings of that hope you stepped out of the pit of depression and pain into the light of His salvationâhallelujah!!
Beloved, if today you trudge through the miry clay of worry and despair, cry out once again for Him to bring you up and out. He delights to hear your voice. He will dry every tear and replace that hurting heart with a heart so full of joy that it will overflow. When we enter into His sanctuary, all pain, worry, and torment stays outside; it cannot enter into the holy of holies, for it is not there to worship God. So enter in and rid yourself of the troubles that are weighing you down.
Beloved, the Lord longs to pull you up, to set your feet upon the rock. He will take you from the miry clay to footsteps that are firm in Him. No longer will you doubt, wonder, or worry. Enter in today. Do it now.
September 29
âAnd He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear, and will trust in the Lordâ (Ps. 40:3).
Beloved, what is the song of your heart? Is it one of pain, despair, and anxious writhing? Oh, enter in to the sanctuary and behold the Lamb of God. Spread your arms toward heaven, and bow down before Him. Enter in.
Beloved, He will put a new song, a song of deliverance, into your heart. And your mouth will sing songs of praises to your God. Nothing has changed in your circumstances; it is just that now you are praising Him for who He is, not for what He has promised to do for you. It is just about Him, and, compared to Him, you no longer need or want anything, save Him. Â
Beloved, is this where you are today? Are you to the point that you want to change the course of your circumstances and to rise above it? Then turn your eyes to Jesus, look into the fullness of His wonderful face. When you do, the things of this world, the things that used to weigh heavy on your heart, the things that have stolen your peace, all these things will pass away. Then many, not just a few, but many will see and fear, and they, too, will trust in your Lord.
September 30
âHow blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust, and has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehoodâ (Ps. 40:4).
Beloved, what are you trusting in? Are you still trusting in the arm of the flesh? Do you believe that what will save you is the more you can do? Is it the more that others, those who pray for you, will do? Are these things the things you are trusting in? Then you are not blessed but cursed. Oh, how blessed is the one who has made the Lord his only trust. It is saying, âOnly You, Lord, are able to do what needs to be done in me and in my situation. Only You, Lord, are capable of turning the tides of destruction to rivers of life flowing freely into and around my life, touching everyone who knows me.â
Beloved, do not turn to the proud who profess to know what you need to do. Beloved, they will cause you, too, to lapse into falsehood. Oh, how good those words feel to our flesh, which has been dying because we have stopped feeding it and instead have turned to feeding our spirit. Oh, how the flesh wants to do somethingâanythingâthat it can be revived. Your mind tells you that nothing is happening, that you have missed God somehow. And you fall into the trap of believing that this new plan of action will get things moving again.
Beloved, if you are seeking blessings from God, then you will need to make the Lord your only trust. He alone will save you, change you, and turn the tides of your situation. He is just waiting for you to give up all your plans, purposes, and desires, accepting His will for your life, for your loved-oneâs life, and for your childrenâs lives as well. Tell Him right now whom you trust and make it Him once and for all.
