MM: Empty Promises

This MEQ is unique because it's from one of our MM IOU Students who hadn't yet filled out a form. Since she does give us her permission (see below) it's here to

Name:
Gioia Faith in the United States
What language do you speak?
English and Chinese
I'm here:
Seeking restoration for my marriage.
What is your current marital status? Please be sure to choose the one that BEST describes your situation.
Married and my husband lives with me.
Have you read the book "How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage?"
Yes
How did you find our ministry?
It was thru a book written by a previous bride about her restoration journey.
Now, please tell us about your situation and why you have come to us for help and what has your husband/partner said are the main issues or problems he has with you and your relationship?
I have not filled out an evaluation since I’ve been here 8 months ago and my answer may have changed during this time.
EH said he felt like he was treated badly by me. And I had made a lot of empty promises and were never fulfilled. I have withheld sex from him a lot, esp having kids. I went against his will to fight in front of the kids and he said that was his last draw.
Please use the space below to simply speak to God, in your own words, pouring your heart out to Him.
Lord, ever since I’ve come to know you more intimately after coming to RMI, my life has changed. My focus is no longer on EH but looking to you to make changes in me. Knowing that I have you, I have everything. I thank you for making me realize how I have fallen short of your love and how I could work on remedy that for the rest of my life.
In order for us to minister more effectively to you, please check what concerns apply to you:

  1. My dear Gioia, thank you for sharing your heart to us. I went through a similar situation, my husband remain in our house during our journey. It was really intense because Our Beloved need me to start applying the principles right away and in front of my children. I want to encourage to read this lesson from Moving Mountains:https://loveatlast.org/fc/moving-mountains/chapter-4-promises/ and this one from Restore your Relationships https://loveatlast.org/ryr/c6.
Because I know that in the time you have spent here in the Ministry the Lord has given you promises that He will fulfill in your life and He is our safe place always and for everything.
I also want to encourage you to spent time with your children because they are an important part of our journey and they are watching us, we are showing them how the Lord is.
I want to encourage you to read the daily devotionals to them: https://homegrownministries.com/my-beloved-child-devotional/
This will help you to build a relationship with their Heavenly Father and you.
My dear Gioia you have become an encouraging woman and I know that our Beloved is working in your life because you shared amazing comments and testimonies.
“But I will sing about your strength. I will rejoice in your love every morning. You have been my place of safety, the place I can run to when troubles come” Psalm 59:16
He is our safe place always

    1. Dear Isabella, thank you for pointing me to the daily devotions for the children. I started tonight 🙂 Can’t wait to see them grow closer to the Lord.

  2. Thank you for sharing Gioia. Ive seen you post/comment with this verse before “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Ex14:14. when I was going through my restoration journey, the Lord used “be still” a lot to me. I would repeat it to myself often while on the phone or in person and wanting to complain or cry to my eh. He would tell me “Be still, Hope, be still” I also was not intimate with my eh for a very long time using it as an ultimatum. I was full of pain, sadness & bitterness. It’s hard sometimes but know that the Lord has all the control and with Him ALL things are possible. We must draw near to Him and surrender. “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him” Ps37:7.
One of my favorite verses I would remind myself of what love is…it’s not full of pain, sadness or bitterness but: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
I’m sure since you are taking the courses that you have journaled but just in case you haven’t I would suggest you pour your heart out to Him. Again I’m not sure what courses/books you have done but I have been reading MM lately and it’s now one of my favorite books https://loveatlast.org/fc/moving-mountains/
Thank you for becoming an encouraging woman. I enjoy reading your posts/comments. 🥰

  3. Gioia I did the same you did and heard the same you did. I always denied it and justified it, using working shifts as an excuse.
Only after I found RMI and worked through the courses, was I able to look at myself and admit that I was wrong and made so many mistakes. I remember when I proofed the AFR Wise Women book (after I did the course and journaled the lessons) how many times I could just fell down face down and ask my HH for forgiveness for the way I was and ask Him to make the changes in me. And He did and He is still busy working on me.
But when I met my Heavenly Husband and really fell in love with Him, made Him all I need and all I live for, the changes no longer came from trying in the flesh, but from a heart filled with His love. It just flowed. And that was also the time my focus shifted from my eh to my HH, wanting only Him and laying down my will for His. That is when my restoration journey changed into a Abundant life journey. (https://loveatlast.org/finding-the-abundant-life/)

“Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” Psalm 34:5
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Psalm 34:8

  4. Dear Gioia thank you for filling out the MEQ and I believe your answer changed from the 8 months ago because after following the courses, journaling and following the principals of RMI I totally believe your life has changed, like so many of our lives have changed and through your posts and encouragement to other brides, your are walking with your HH this road, so my encouragement to you will be, keep walking the walk and focusing on your Darling Husband.
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2C4:18

  5. Thank you all for the encouraging words! I am so grateful to be in this community and have found like-minded brides. I can’t wait to share RMI with more brides as no one shall walk in darkness when He is our light.

  6. After Adina, we had a 3 Cord of comments supporting \o/\o/\o/ this bride, we will reply to her email and so we have CLOSED this session. Thank you!!
