My Home: my haven!

β€œTrust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Β A while ago I read this quote: β€œHome is the nicest word there is.” As I read that quote, it resonated with my soul! Maybe it does for you too. It can either resonate with us in a longing, or something hoped for, or in a way that reassures and reminds us of what we have.

I love my home and my children, and after reading Chapter 15 "Your Mother’s Teachings" of the Wise Woman, I take a vote to make my home a haven! But how?

The balance of making our home feel like a place of rest while also running our home to make sure it doesn’t burst out of control is, for sure, the struggle of homemaking!

One of the things that I value the most about this ministry is how my eyes were opened to the truth that my work as a mom and a homemaker is holy. It was given to me by the Lord, and when I read and journal Workers@Home My Beloved open my heart to my precious task!

Years have passed and I still pray and ask my Heavenly Husband for guidance to have a home centered on Him! A fun, full of my BelovedΒ΄s love! We shift our focus as a family. Move the compass of our home toward Him! We start every day by telling Him, β€œLord, we commit this day to you.” We are to invite our Beloved into all of the spaces and systems of our homes. Go about your work, but ask Him to nudge you in all the right directions. Truly commit your day to Him!

Our value does not come from checking off every item on our to-do list, but rather for caring for the hearts of those around us! When we let our Heavenly Husband guide us, we find freedom!

Some of the things that my Beloved has shown me are:

1. Mornings in my home should be pleasant. Greeting your family with a smile and telling them you are glad to see them creates a joy-filled start for their day. β€œThis is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it” Psalm 118:24.

I am trying to help my children learn to love mornings from a young age. As with everything else, our Beloved showed me that this set the tone in our home. Make sure the mornings feel joyful! I usually try to start my day a few minutes before to spend with my Beloved! Time reading His Word, praying, and committing my day to Him, equipped me to enjoy my children and accomplish all My Beloved had for me that day.

2. Make family meals a priority. Establishing a time for regular family meals with no TV makes all the difference. Carve out time to eat together. The dinner hour should be a sweet memory of our child’s life. Here in Costa Rica, we eat together 4 times a day and we talk a lot! We are Latin and we share every little detail of our lives!

3. Create a fun bedtime routine for my children! We begin bath time and bedtime early enough at 5 pm so I can take time to say goodbye to the great grandparents and ask for their blessing, have dinner, and then read their Heavenly Father's promises. This is a special time to meditate on our day, share something good that happened, and something we want to pray for. The bedtime hour should be one associated with the sweetness of spending time with you!

4. Doing things together! Now we try to do more Word-centered ideas. As we read along the Bible, we try to reenact foods, gatherings, and celebrations that our Beloved leads me. We love to visit other families, play fun board games, sing together, and harvest veggies from our garden. And of course, coffee (the great-grandparents own a coffee plantation) we drink a lot of coffee and share our hopes and dreams!

So today, my sweet friend, I urge you to turn to our Beloved every time you feel overwhelmed or encounter a difficult situation. Turn to Him even before any of these things happen. Daily commit your ways to Him, and He will guide your paths. Our Heavenly Husband is 100% faithful. He gives us His very great and precious promises so that we can hold on to them, declare them, and live them out by faith. We live by faith, resting in the confidence that He is faithful and true, stepping out on what He has said to you, and He brings about the promise.

Our home is our haven with Him!

In reality, there is the blessing that HE has given us, in enjoying the family and resting in the faith that HE takes care of us and provides for us, it makes no sense for us to run like crazy working after the material riches that the moth will take away when We must run after HIM and a beautiful way to do it is by giving our families a refuge, a home that they want to come to because they enjoy their time there, it is where they feel loved and cared for, not judged or rejected, because there in that home reigns. love of God and of God.

I loved this PR, because something similar adapted to my life is what I would like to have in my life and my family, right now it is the opposite, it is terrible, and the big culprit is me, for all my mistakes and my sins, I failed on everything in the part that Isabella mentions of taking care of the hearts of those around us, there was my biggest mistake and since yesterday my beloved has been showing me many of those mistakes, I am reaping what I sowed. How nothing is impossible for God, because I will ask him to help me have a heart willing to take care of those around me, even when they are difficult to love, thank you for sharing, blessings πŸ™πŸ»

    1. Yes my dear, our mindset changes everything, if we start with joy and faith, we can conquer our daily challenges and trust thar we are not alone, we have Him, to calm our storms, to change perspectives, to turn hearts and to teach us to surrender alwaysπŸ’•

  7. Thank you dear Isabella, this was really a beautiful praise. We are so blessed to be W@H and most of all, being mothers! Children are a huge blessing. I also try to hug my kids regularly each day and tell them I love them and that their Heavenly Father loves them and that they are worthy because He created them and loves them unconditionally. Homeschooling also allows us to start the day off in a easier more relaxed way, their first “subject” every day is Bible study, before they start with their other subjects. I was also blessed a while ago to be able to buy my children new Bibles, a creative Bible for my daughter and an Action Bible for my son.

    1. My dear wow, that is so beautiful. Praise Him that our lives have changed do much and we understand our role of love and caring gor our homes and children❀️
Love that your days start with Bible study, that is so precious for our growth. Thank you for sharing πŸ’–
