HTBB Principle #1 “Blessings for a Lifetime”

โ™• Today's Promise: โ€œSurely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.โ€ Psalm 23:6

โ˜Šย Principle #1

God WANTS to Bless You!

As I began reading and answering so many letters over the past few weeks, the intense feeling of my heart was to see more women find the Lord as her Heavenly Husband.

Women come to us for one purpose, to restore their marriages. And though our materials are based on restoring marriages, what each and EVERY woman can come away with (even if she gives up on her restoration) is finding the Love of her life!

Whenever I read any of our MEQs โ€œMarriage Encouragement Questionnairesโ€, I always feel this incredible urge to try to do whatever I can to encourage her. When I read the details, and the tone of brokenness in their heartbroken confessions, I am often moved to tears and want so much to see their marriages restored, but even more, I want them to find the Prince of Peace and their Man of Valorโ€”the Lord of Hosts.

Isaiah 54:5โ€”

โ€œFor your Husband is your Maker, Whose name is theย Lord of hostsโ€

And then it hit meโ€” this is EXACTLY how God feels about wanting women to experience our precious Lord! He wants to bless us, He wants to bless you! So much so that He tells us in His Word how we can obtain His blessings!

Isaiah 30:18โ€”

โ€œTherefore the LORDย longsย to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; how blessed are all those who long for Him.โ€

The Lord is waiting and longing to bless each and everyone who longs for Him. It is His very nature to WANT to bless us!

When He sees our humility, He wants to EXALT us!

When He sees us giving, He wants to GIVE to us!

When He sees our tears, He wants to COMFORT us!

When He sees us struggling, He wants to HELP us!

Sadly I believe that far too often we listen to the world (who doubts God and certainly has no clue that the Lord is gracious) so we sometimes โ€œfeelโ€ that He is aloof to our needs or desires. We also listen to the enemy who makes us โ€œquestionโ€ if God even cares about us at all.

Even Christians who love the Lord still question Godโ€™s willingness or desire to give them the desires of their heart, when His Word clearly says otherwise.

Psalm 37:4โ€”

โ€œDelight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.โ€

So the truth isโ€”Godย wantsย to bless each and every one of us, not just this year but for a lifetime! He also promises to meet EVERY one of your needs and even many or most of your desires too. Heย wantsย to bless EACH and every single one of you with a restored marriageโ€”you must NEVER doubt itโ€”but it means being restored to Him first.

Okay, so I could go on, but instead, Iโ€™d like each of us to stop to โ€œSelah.โ€ Stop now and think about what Iโ€™ve just said and what He said in His own words. And during this upcoming week, I want to encourage you to think about this and meditate on this one principle.

The Lord is waiting and longing to bless each and everyone who longs for Him. It is His very nature to WANT to bless us!

Next week we will look at why there are far too many believers who areย notย blessed while there are other believers who seem to be so blessed they cannot contain it. Now itโ€™s time toโ€ฆ

  1. Thank you this is so beautiful, I know in my own life for years I listened too to others in the world, trying to find my comfort in their words, but they only that could really comfort me is my Darling Lord, so now I believe His promises for me and He does want to bless me and I am so grateful for the many blessings I have already received.

  2. Thank you. I love reading this every year. It is such a blessing and every time I get something different out of it, when the author said: “Even Christians who love the Lord still question Godโ€™s willingness or desire to give them the desires of their heart, when His Word clearly says otherwise.” it just confirms for what He spoke to me about a few weeks ago about trusting Him in everything. Relying on His word and leaning on my own understanding.

  3. I had read this the first day posted and now today, today it brought me to tears. I agree with you that God wants to bless us. As you and Yvonne pointed out, even Christians who love the Lord can still question His willingness or desire to give them the desires of their heart. I can even get to that point if I am not with Him daily. When we find ourselves questioning God’s willingness or want to bless us, it’s important to remember that He is a good Husband who wants to give us good things.
โ€œTherefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; how blessed are all those who long for Him.โ€

  4. I love the HTBB series and to be reminded of the principles each year. I is so easy to sometimes doubt in our Beloved Lord’s willingness to bless us, but these two verses are a confirmation that yes, He wants to bless us!!

Psalm 37:4: โ€œDelight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.โ€
Isaiah 30:18: โ€œTherefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; how blessed are all those who long for Him.โ€

This sentence stood out for me: “…you must NEVER doubt it (His willingness to bless us)โ€”but it means being restored to Him first.”

  5. Oh what a beautiful Promise!
โ€œTherefore the LORD LONGS to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; HOW BLESSED ARE ALL THOSE WHO LONG FOR HIM.โ€
He LONGS for me and I LONG for Him ๐Ÿ’ž

This also stood out to me~
“He wants to bless EACH and every single one of you with a restored marriageโ€”you must NEVER doubt itโ€”but it means being restored to Him first.”
I do believe He wants every marriage restored, for He hates divorce, but I also know He wants me to remain completely His and wants me all to Himself and I love that about Him. IF he does decide to restore my marriage that’s completely up to Him. I belong to Him and He can do with me what He pleases. I want nothing more than to please Him. I just know that I AM restored to Him and no longer need signs or wonders to prove it. I am happy right where I am, alone with Him also. He is all I need. ๐Ÿ˜

  6. His desires to us is so a great blessing.
This first chapter of this series is perhaps the most important of them all. Our Lord’s character to want to bless us by giving us every desire of our heart is explained here so simply. Even though He hates divorce and sees Him, He loves nothing more than turning the hearts of the man and woman back together. . Does He love us even more because He is primarily a jealous God? And He does not want to see the narrow road deserted that brings us to Him. The intimate relationship you can have with Him can give you all the blessings that are waiting for you. This is a logical consequence. The more you pursue Him the more your earthly (former) husband will pursue you. Is not that great!!!!!
