Chapter a Day

I have been reading a chapter a day, in no certain order, along with the MB Devotional and keeping a document on what I have learned. I thought I would share one here.

Matthew 14

Praise or Thanks –
Thank you for healing us when we are sick, feeding us when we are hungry, and for saving us when we begin to sink.

What I learned from this chapter?
*Herodias was an unlawful wife of the tetrarch Herod Antipas, previously married to his brother, and held a grudge with John the Baptist. The new marriage was not honorable, and John the Baptist publicly denounced their adultery.
*Jesus makes room for time alone with God even with the needs of so many people pressing in on Him, the Lord makes solitary time with God His priority.
*If we take our eyes off Jesus and focus on our circumstances, we will fall. If we call to Jesus in faith, he will catch us and lift us.

How can I apply to my own life to help me grow closer to the Lord?
I should first ask God what His will is before I act. Peter didn’t jump out of the boat without asking God.

What is my favorite verse?
But Jesus quickly spoke to them. He said, β€œHave courage! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”M14:27

Questions I have that I need to ask the Lord to show me?
Is there anything I am putting before You? Are you asking me to leave anything behind to follow you?

β€œMy son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments” (Pr. 3:1).

  1. Thank you for sharing hope. I love how you are picking out what you are learning and questions to seek your HH about. I still sometimes wonder in amazement how His word is so powerful and applicable to our lives today.

    1. Yes Isabella, I went back to some journals from 2005. At first I was a little embarrassed of how child-like my responses were but then remembered it is showing me how much He has taught me and how I’ve grown in Him. πŸ’•πŸŒΌ

    1. Thanks for your response Anastasia. I also love going back and seeing How he has been with me every step of my life. Even when I left Him for a while, He was waiting patiently for me to return. πŸ’•
